Let UFO Friday begin...
Hope you can join me for UFO Friday today. If you have a UFO hanging around that you would like to finish, today is the day! :) Please feel free to post comments/pictures of what you're working on today. Let's encourage each other to finish some of these UFOs. And if by some chance, you don't have any UFOs, join us anyway. Everyone is welcome.

Oh I hope to join, but it will be late tonite before I can actually get any quilting done. I have a strip lap quilt that I have been working on. I got to work today and company tonite, then off to the sewing room I will go. I will be checking in to see everyone's progress.

I;ll be working on a baby quilt that I got disgusted with and layed over to the side for the last two weeks.I also need to spray baste two small quilts ,since it;s a beautiful day{I spray baste outside on my porch.}
|
Well, I have the fabric all cut according to the directions. Now I just need to start piecing the blocks together. I got sidetracked by skyping with my parents in Florida for an hour! My goal is to finish a Michael Miller BOM from 2011. I can finish it this weekend if I stay on track and keep motivated :)
|
I'll be sewing this afternoon! Hoping to put final outside border on a top.

I'm in! I've got two UFO tops pulled and ready to press before spray basting and I've got a lap size top to work on while they set up before I quilt them. The 1st contains blocks from an online swap in an Easter theme that I'll use for a table topper and the 2nd is a wall quilt made from 2 charm packs and the "Little Charmers II" pattern by Anka's Treasures.
The top (3rd pic) is from Debbie Caffrey's book "Open a Can of Worms", I had a hard time deciding on the inner border fabric and finally found this lovely green print at my LQS. This one will be sent out for professional quilting. We are supposed to get another 3-5" of snow today and my DH has evening plans so it should be a great day of UFO busting for me! |
I am determined to finish a quilt top today. Just taking a break for a few and then back to the machine. Tired of all these loose ends laying around. Good luck everyone .
|
OK...my errands are done. Will need to do a little cleaning, but I'm in to try and get "something" done. :)
Sweetpea...sorry the day isn't going awesome...hang in there! Asimplelife....LOVE your quilts! |
Sure and I have to work today. Just could not get it off. My heart is with you ladies. I finished up a quilt I started on January 1 last night. Put it down three times and so left it all over my sewing table and got it done. Have fun and show the cool projects you finish today or at least a progress photo would be awesome to see.

I'll start a new UFO this afternoon. lol

sweetpea, hope your day is going better.
I attached a picture of what I finally managed to get done this morning, those blocks seem to take forever to make! I'm in the middle of making what seems like a 1000 more flying geese for the next block. At the moment, I'm taking 1/2 hour break for The Bold and the Beautiful. Keep up the good work everyone! |

so far I have the cathedral window blocks quilted and ready for the next stage, but waiting for my GD to decide on the lay out which will be later this afternoon. In the mean while I pulled out another UFO to start, might as well maybe neither will be completed to day but at least I'm puting a dent in them!

Raggiemom...how sweet! For a little one? :)
Caroloto....fun soccer quilt! :) I just finished my Halloween ghost costume. umm....I started it too close to Halloween last year and couldn't get it done (it's sort of a fancy ghost--not just a sheet with eye holes...lol). So it sat around until today. All done and tucked in the closet for October! Have washed a counted cross stitch...I'm going to guess its age of about 25-30 years??? A name thing I made for my high school friend. OK...so we're not little girls anymore, but darn it, she's going to get it. I suppose I'll make a little pillow out of it? Otherwise, I would hate to throw it away, and I only know one person with this name. Keep up the good work! |
ill be working on my challenge scrappy quilt hope to get top togather today

caroloto, impressive looking cathedral windows. Are they hard to do?
qbtexas, a pillow with the cross stitch sounds like a great idea to me. I've finished another set of blocks. The other picture is of my boys "supervising"! |
Qbtexas, no the quilt isn't for a baby. It actually finishes queen sized. I'm thinking about donating it to our church when I'm done because I'm just so sick of it! :)
|
Sorry I missed this thread earlier, but have pieced a top and have it ready to sandwich all from stash materials!!
|
I plan on cutting and putting binding on a lap quilt and making name labels for my quilt show entries for both the quilt and the pillow case each one goes in. If I can get that done.... I'll be doing good. Been working in the garden and cleaning house all day long!
|
I have a UFO top laid out and ready to go.
|
My sewing machine decide to not sew but bunch up on the bobbin side. I have so many things to finish if I can just get this to work.

Raggiemom....they're so pretty! The blocks and your kitties! :)
Rufree44 ..good luck. I hate when that happens. Here is the pillow (if I can make a photo post). Nothing fancy...but out of my closet! |
qbtexas: what a great cross stitch! It will be well liked, I'm sure.
I'd like to join you all but since I don't get home from my job until 7:30, I think I'll have to limit my participating to just looking! Have fun all! Jeanine |
I wish I could join you also. Maybe I will be able to spend some time tonight. But have to get stuff together to take to National Quilt Day display tomorrow. Have no idea what I will dig up to take as finished products. But I will take some UFO to work on while I am there. Either needle turn applique or hand quilting most likely.
|
I will be joining a little late. Came home from work and fell asleep. I will be choosing and cutting fabrics for the Dresden plate baby quilt. Have fun everyone. Lovely quilts and blocks I see so far! peace

Another month done! I have 2 months blocks left to do. Then it's assembly time and add borders. Hopefully that will get done tomorrow. Then I can start a new project Sunday for VQD!
Thanks to all of you who quilted with me. It really helped keep me on track and I got much more done than I would have otherwise. qbtexas, the pillow looks great! rufree4t, hope your machine is more cooperative :( qm, good luck with your top. Jeanine and quilt addict, sorry you weren't able to join us today. ube quilting, have fun making the dresdens. Would love to see how it turns out. |
raggiemom,, love all your blocks and the colours. Only just found this thread and it is 10.40pm here. have had a busy day no time for quilting but have spent an hour or two organising my sewing room. Not quite finished will try tomorrow so I am set to go for VQD. See you there.
|
I dug one out today that's been sitting unfinished for quite a while. It's an on-point setting and I just need to finish a few setting triangles. Then I can assemble the rows and get it off to the LAQ.
|
Well, we had a good day. I am determined to sew all my swap blocks into lap robes or quilts, layer, quilt, bind and donate them by March 26th. And do my March block for swap. Today cut all the sashing and binding and joined two sets of blocks. For once, we are going to move fewer UFO projects and less fabric to North Carline than we moved down here.

raggiemom - your blocks and furbabies are beautiful!
qbtexas - what a pretty stitched pillow! I have pics of top #1 quilted before I lose the light... I'll update again later. I did a simple grid stitch with a pastel variegated Sulky thread, it's really pretty up close. I decided to back it with a big floral so I can flip it over and use it after Easter. These blocks were from a swap, some of the border fabrics are a bit brighter or darker than I would have chosen but it will be a cute scrappy topper (about 35" by 35")for a round table. |
Well, it sounds like we've had a productive day. Glad you all were able to quilt with me :)

Great job, everyone! I got a little more work done...made the quilt sandwich for a baby quilt for our guild...it was a 'challenge' from the guild to make a top to match some orphan backing fabric that didn't match any of the tops people were donating. I picked up the baseball/football/etc fabric...there was enough for the back and border, as you see in the photo. I pieced with some running and biking fabric, and some scraps I had from a different baby quilt. I did the top about a week ago, so for UFO day, I got the layers together, and it will be tied at our next guild meeting.
Thanks so much for the inspiration and incentive to get moving on some projects. I did also want to finish up the binding on a quilt, but that will be another day. :) Will we do this again? Raggiemom...you got a lot done! Asimplelife....love the colors! |

QbTexas - love your top! I have realized I need to make a bunch of boy quilts next go round as my current crop of UFO tops for Project Linus are mostly girly. Those are great fabrics.
One last pic - quilting the stars on my charm wall hanging. 2 done with 7 to go, it's time to call it quits until daylight tomorrow AM. Thanks for a fun UFO Day everyone! |
All are looking so nice! Good jobs! I'm still haven't completed mine but hope this post stays open and by next week pictures of all we were able to finish or just so close to being done! I going to work on mine some more tomorrow...
I am so loving what everyone is working on! |
Thanks to your prompting, I finished sandwiching a lap quilt that had been sitting on my son's bedroom floor all week. I will post a pic later...
|
Well, I have the quilt top assembled and just need to add 2 1/2 borders. I'll do that Monday morning and it will finally be done! :) So now I can work on something new tomorrow for VQD and not feel guilty...
|
I'm working on a log cabin quilt for my grandson. Collected the fabric for 3 years, finally got it pieced and now working on the quilting. Had to put it on hold for two weeks so my machine could get serviced and updated. Now I'm on a roll again.
|
I am a very new quilter and don't know anything about this spray basteing you are talking about. Care to share some info?
Melissa |
I have a stack of UFOs that I am working on. I try to do the next step on each according to the color of thread needed. They include a raggy quilt, 10 wallets, 4 expandable tote bags, polarfleece socks, etc., etc.
