Having a glass of sangria and feeling somewhat accomplished. Finished 2 pillowcases to match DH's new quilt. Pieced a QFK and pressed the backing...it is now ready to be quilted. I cut out 2 more QFKs and one is half pieced. Also finished the binding on one small flannel quilt that was half done; two more to go, but they aren't easy. WHEW! I think I will need a second glass of sangria. Much more to be done tomorrow.

Well I went to class and as the photo shows nothing done for me. Spent the time dashing to the doctor and helping a newbie. She is doing a very large bed quilt with a small janome so we have divided into 3 sections. Yesterday she put a border around the section on 3 sides pressed and eventually sandwiched at end of day. Discussed the quilting pattern and she is going home to use her walking foot and quilt it. . I was that exhausted when I came home I fell asleep. Good job no family to feed only 3 dogs who went to sleep with me.

Raggiemom 11-02-2013 03:47 AM

Well, before I get into too much quilting today, I'm going shopping. I need a new 1/4" foot for my Janome, the little metal hook thingie is bent and keeps catching on my fabric. Also, one of our LQS has over 100 bolts of novelty fabric for $5/yd and over 100 bolts of other fabric for $3/yd. Can't pass that up! Will try to remember to post a picture of what I "accomplish" there :)

This is "The Never Ending Red Quilt" that I have been quilting all week. Maybe I'll get her finished by Sunday.

QuiltswithConvicts 11-02-2013 03:56 AM

Yes, my studio is my entire house! When we moved to San Antonio, we down-sized considerably & there is no sewing room, so I took over the entire house. Love open-concept living! I'm set up right in front of the fireplace. Not a problem as I don't think we'll ever have a fire. Had one at last place. Lived there for nearly 12 years & had only 3-4 fires that entire time.

I'm working on finishing my third quilt, very pleased so far...I have found a guide for that perfect scant 1/4", and my 1 1/2" blocks and sashing are looking better. I'm entering it in an online contest. Will post a pic when done for constructive criticism!

AngeliaNR 11-02-2013 04:22 AM

That is a beautiful red quilt!

Elisabrat 11-02-2013 04:44 AM

I will be sewing all weekend but my weekend starts tomorrow! I am working on a round robin that needs the rows I made attached and corner stones which I have no idea what I am doing on those.. then I can quilt a table runner that is sitting to the machine along with a baby quilt that is half quilted.. I know how lame but other projects needed mailing on time for swaps so it got pushed aside. I would rather start on a new project I love making the tops.. I hate quilting them. so.. wish me luck on finishing those three projects. I have the time so there should be no excuse. I will post pics as I finish each one. I am loving the pictures posted the star quilt in all those bright colors is gorgeous then of course the red one.. how fun that is and the one block wonder blue quilt how beautiful and elegant that will look and well all the rest.. I have never made a bag, a casserole carrier or any other fun things like that. One day.. when I find time.. and my ufo box is decimated. I need 100 weekends like this to truly decimate it.. it keeps growing!!

Thanks for the kick in the rear with this VQW! I have a quilt that needs the binding finished up. I am one of those who can only work on one project at a time! Hopefully I can finish it and get one more Christmas gift cut out. :)

I just finished making a herd of ponies for Etsy and want to get back to the main quilt I've been working on for months. The colors in real life are a lot brighter than the picture. I hope the picture shows up.

Also need to finish trimming a crochet scarf for the veterans and work on blocks for my daughter's pinwheel quilt.

Love the peacock batik and blue compass squares the rest of you did!

StarofMoonDancer 11-02-2013 06:50 AM

Wow love these colors and layouts....

Cmegrow 11-02-2013 06:52 AM

I will be working on the binding of my QOV and on the presentation case. Also have my first embroidery lesson on my new Viking Topaz 30.

mdall 11-02-2013 07:02 AM

Well I'm here. Got up late today, kids got up and just watched TV for a bit while letting mom and dad sleep for a change. Just finished up breakfast, laundry is started, kitchen picked up till lunch, and just need to tidy up the blankets and stuff in the living from where all the troops were watching cartoons this morning then time to sew. Planning on finishing up swap items today. Happy sewing.

MargeD 11-02-2013 07:42 AM

Thank you!

Will somebody PLEASE turn off my brain!!! I just thought of something else that HAS to be quilted in this quilt! I'll give a short background. This quilt is for my Goddaughter, who at age 14 is in her third year of high school She has had the female lead in the fall play all 3 years. She lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I really wanted to be there this year for her, but I'm in San Antonio. So. . .I made this quilt for her. Her favorite color is red & I would love to present her with a big bouquet of flowers, but this will have to do.

What I decided I needed to quilt in the borders are the titles of the 3 plays she's acted in: Arsenic & Old Lace (was one of the 2 sisters - 2011, The Miracle Worker (was Helen Keller) - 2012 & The Man Who Came to Dinner (Sheridan Whiteside's assistant) - 2013. The play opened last night & runs through Sunday. This is a large high school & we are so proud of her. Her Mom is my BFF!

I, too, will be quilting today. I am quilting 4 placemats.

DebraK 11-02-2013 09:48 AM

So ends my quilting weekend. Have to clean house. In Laws coming over. Rats!

quilter68 11-02-2013 10:03 AM

Debrak,
Love your stars. Very dramatic color combo!

kaelynangelfoot 11-02-2013 10:07 AM

DebraK, do what I do... tell them if they want to come over, they have to deal with the mess!!

DebraK 11-02-2013 10:17 AM

The mess isn't bad. It's the grunge. I needed to dust and mop anyway ;-) It's the short warning that gets to me. I'll be by at the end of the day to admire everyone's progress.

needlesandpins11873 11-02-2013 10:23 AM

Fantastic your OBW quilt. What quilt book would you recommend to learn to make such an awesome quilt? BTW and how many yards of this fabric did you buy?

needlesandpins11873 11-02-2013 10:27 AM

I like your star block - it is great.

QuiltingVagabond 11-02-2013 11:16 AM

After a slow start this morning, I am plugging right along... I slept in this am because I rarely get to do that, then hemmed a pair of jeans, cut out two cloth book panels to sew up for the little GKs for Christmas, and did some stitch in the ditch quilting and raw edge applique on a small hanging which is now ready for binding.

First time doing the raw edge applique, it turned out pretty good. There were lots of turns and I was using a blanket stitch so I lost the edge a couple of times, but it is good enough for me.

Love seeing all the projects!

I have a majorly cranky baby on my hands so no sewing for me till bedtime. Lots of shrek watching and spying on what y'all are working on.

If I can I'm hoping to get the second table topper laid out to out together. Then hunt through my tiny stash for backing to quilt them up. My old man cat will appreciate some new festive sleeping pads. Lol

thimblebug6000 11-02-2013 11:39 AM

Great projects everyone, I started slowly this morning & I am now cutting out the BOM for Nov., lots of pieces  Had to stop for a bowl of soup, so will check again later when hopefully I will have my block sewn.

I have the One Block Wonder Cubed book, but there is a blogger who just did a series of posts on how to put together one of these quilts. The address is http://quilterinthecloset.blogspot.com/ so check her archived posts for details.

Ok, sorry I missed the posting for this Virtual Quilt Along. I am joining in for the rest of today and tomorrow. I am preparing to go to my annual fall Quilt Retreat, so I will be pulling things together. Also working on a couple of stray projects. Pics later....

Sunnie 11-02-2013 12:56 PM

I absolutely love that red quilt.

I just finished a short break for food (needed more energy) and am getting ready to go back into my cave. So far today I was able to finish one QFK top and cut and press backing for it and one other. I hope to get the second one pieced today so I can cut strips for a rail fence this evening.

I just love these weekends as I get so motivated.

DebraK 11-02-2013 01:08 PM

nice bags.

DebraK 11-02-2013 01:11 PM

neat silhouette.

ube quilting 11-02-2013 01:24 PM

@ DebraK: Both those stars are great together and alone. I like the fabrics you are using and would be excited to make 37, did you say 37, more blocks.
peace

I haven't gotten much done today. Had to take my dog to the vet and now I'm watching the Michigan/Michigan State game, but I did get one more row done on my queen sized top. Two more to go.

judy5cents 11-02-2013 01:57 PM

Cynicalbeauty- I love the colors of your quilt, please show us the completed top when its done.

I have glue basted my faded charms quilt, gone to the thrift store and bought 2 quilting books and a bag of sheets and pillow cases- some lovely pillow cases to cut up for my vintage sheet quilt that I am collecting fabric for. Also went to the fabric store for 1/2 price thread and a new seam ripper as mine is very old.

mdall 11-02-2013 02:14 PM

Not getting alot finished so far. DH is down with a chest cold, my mother showed up unexpectedly to pick up another one of my kids so had to pack and such. Now that the two older ones are gone the smaller two are running around with nothing to do they say. So been taking breaks to play games with them, get out the beads for them to play, and letting one of them help with some of the painting that needed done on a swap item. Hoping to get more done later once they are settled and in bed.
