either caps or lower case.......

marsye 06-01-2010 06:19 AM

Rebecca VLQ 06-01-2010 06:19 AM

Tee hee hee...I tell people that ALL THE TIME when they say "Can I do this?" I say:

"There ARE no quilt police!!!" :D

Pam 06-01-2010 06:38 AM

I like my quilt police, they live in my own mind, and make me find ways to improve, mine are here to stay!

DebraK 06-01-2010 06:41 AM

The words don't bother me. They are in fact, just words.

clem55 06-01-2010 07:21 AM

Don"t most of us take it as a joke? I know I do.

What is this...Quilt Police or quilt police???? Let them come to my door....love serving a cup of coffee or bar to the person in "blue/white".

PunkQuilter 06-01-2010 07:26 AM

"Don't tell me what I can and cannot do" J. Locke

I hate being told what to do. That's how one of my quilts is named "You can't put orange with that"..of course there's plenty of orange in it.

Oh, that is who they are.....I love breaking the rules just to see what the "outcome" (fine) will be like!

Why?

theresse 06-01-2010 11:50 AM

You may not agree with my choice of color or fabric. If it takes my fancy its what I will use.

Jingle 06-01-2010 11:52 AM

I have always been my worse critic and that prbably won't change. I would never dream of judging anything anyone else does.

I think the fun and the creativity is when you break all the rules of quilting . I'm working on 4 quilts now that if the quilt police seen them I would be put away for life with no parole. LOL, Besides, I'm never going to win any awards for my quilts so why not do them the way I like. All my quilts are to be used and to be enjoyed.

Pineapple Princess 06-01-2010 01:50 PM

Haha! My quilt police is my older sister, who has never quilted at all! :)

Same with mine! They are my own and I need them to challenge me.

Born2Sew 06-01-2010 02:36 PM

Just call me a born rebel, and an independent sort. Reminds me of that song "I did it my way".

littlehud 06-01-2010 04:46 PM

There are no quilt police here. Only in our own minds.

brushandthimble 06-01-2010 04:58 PM

I never bothered to read the orginal thread Quilt police, there aren't any.

katsewnsew 06-02-2010 05:00 AM

No such thing as Quilt Police! Quilting is our hobby and meant to be stress-free. Of course there are certain things you should do, but hey, have a good time! If we stress over stuff, it's no fun anymore, right?

charvan 06-02-2010 05:09 AM

They are in my mind to guide me to the best way something will look when it is finished. And I, too, usually don't do anything I am ordered to do. March to the beat of my own drum.

sewgull 06-02-2010 05:15 AM

Quilt police never bother me. Give them a doughnut and away they go.
Truly, I never worry what someone else thinks. I make my patterns when I see the fabric. Delexia has it perks.
Color choice is yours to make. My daughter wanted her quilt primary colors with orange sashing and borders.
I followed her plan, everyone that sees her quilt wants it.
PS. If a burglar was to break in her room I am sure the bright colors would scare him off. (HA HA)

Ditto!

grannyp70 06-02-2010 06:02 AM

That is why there is so many different fabrics to choose from, everybody has different tastes and wouldn't it be a horriable thing if everybody liked the same colors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

redrummy 06-02-2010 06:12 AM

why get rid of the imaginary? like the monsters under our bed,or buggy man, each have their reasons to be there in our inagination. They teach us to be better, be patient with others still believing in the impossible. They can only hurt you if you let them.

tooMuchFabric 06-02-2010 06:57 AM

I love my quilt police. They are the only ones I'm absolutely sure I know better than!!!!

Happy Needler 06-02-2010 07:58 AM

Every year at the Ocean Shores Quilt Show in washington state there is a booth that gives out the "There are no Quilt Police" pins. I grab one avery year and always wind up giving it away to someone who admires it. I just happen to still have last years pin Rebecca if you are interested in it. Call me and I will mail it to you. I will send # in private message.

Happy Needler 06-02-2010 07:59 AM

It will be up for grabs if Rebecca isn't interested. And of course next year I will grab a few just in case

Ahhhh...so sad I won't get to hear that quote again, except in reruns!

grannyp70 06-02-2010 11:06 AM

I would love to have one of those quilt police pens if you have any extra that nobody wants. Just let me know and I will be glad to send you the postage for it. Thanks

great aunt jacqui 06-02-2010 01:13 PM

only words...I laugh.

msariano 06-02-2010 03:11 PM

Most experienced quilters piece how they like and beginners do like to learn the proper way to piece a pattern. However, for those entering quilts in competitions, quilt police or judge, must be a consideration in whether you let a somewhat uneven seam stay in. . .

betlinsmom 06-02-2010 05:38 PM

Are they, like, gonna rat on us? then to whom?...

Alondra 06-02-2010 06:15 PM

Unfortunately, eliminating the words won't eliminate the perpetrators. What we need to eliminate is the critical spirit of the quilt police types. That's what's so neat about this board - the people are so helpful and so supported. I love it!

Margie 06-02-2010 08:30 PM

Do you mean eliminate the term "quilt police"?? Why? I think it is funny lol. Anyway, I loved the comment...give them a doughnut and they will go away...I say Ignore them, eat the doughnut yourself and keep quilting

Margie

I wouldn't call that a "quilt police," I'd call it a QUILT GUARDIAN ANGEL. I'd like one of those.
