I have been making a running list of things to make and ideas for next year under Word. That is my plan!

jojosnana 12-24-2010 06:36 PM

I like to start in January after the tree is down and the boxes of decorations are put away. That is perfect sewing time because it is so cold here for Jan-April that I don't go out much at all. So I sew.....if I am not done by April or May they get put away until October when it starts getting cooler again.......I don't quilt in the summer unless it is an emergency gift.....not many of those...

DonnaB 12-24-2010 06:37 PM

I don't like to quilt under pressure, so let's start our gifts in January.

Agree, but I got to get my Christmas items put up first, then onto the projects for the new year. I look for useful items so I don't think I can go wrong with making and stashing them away!

penski 12-24-2010 07:10 PM

sounds good to me , remind me in July !!!!

cyniree 12-24-2010 07:12 PM

If I start 2 years in advance I will get them done.

I have already started oin next year. I also have my first class Jan 15. It is for some gift ideas Cant wait to get started

grandma sue 12-24-2010 09:43 PM

How about right after Christmas? Then we can enjoy the rest of the year without worrying about Christmas. Except ---- we will still need to do some projects when the Christmas 2011 fabric comes out.

No, I think we should be working on UFO's starting in January -- It's OK to finish them and save for Christmas, isn't it?

That will work for me.....IF I also promise not to spend too much time here!

Gabrielle's Mimi 12-25-2010 12:52 AM

I'm putting a note on my 2011 calendar to start in July!

Moonglow 12-25-2010 02:40 AM

We can only try.

skeetersmom 12-25-2010 02:54 AM

Barb,

Just who will you be making those gifts for? Is it ME?

TN Donna 12-25-2010 03:20 AM

I really think some people love to "complain" oh I have to finish "x" amount by tomorrow. No you wouldn't if you'd have started earlier. Please don't get mad at me!! Like I said, I'm really anal and have to have things done in plenty of time. I'm also really slow quilting so it takes me longer than a day.
Peace & joy everyone!!

That is normally what I do too. But this year I got sick so much
that plan flew right out the window. So I had all the shopping to
do right after thanksgiving. I did finish all 5 memory quilts tho.
Made the fudge and cookies on Dec. 23rd. We always have our
company over on Christmas Eve, and that leaves Christmas Day
for us only. So I can now collapse!!

Cassews 12-25-2010 05:38 PM

I plan I plan, but then that gremlin named mess up her plans gets in the way,so I end up further further behind..Sigh .. One day I will catch that gremlin and I will be able to do all that I write on my calendar and get it done !! LOL

Catlady 12-25-2010 05:55 PM

Let me know how you caught the gremlin, if you ever do!

Dee 12-25-2010 10:06 PM

I am going to start in Jan.. This became too stressful at the end.

Annz 12-26-2010 12:23 PM

Yea I say that all the time but the thoughts don't seem to turn into action.

I agree! I am staying focused on projects to work on all yr long. I am making a list.

DebbyT 12-26-2010 01:47 PM

I still have to to finish 2 gifts. I don't want to give any WIP's next year-- I am planning in my head and have started to check my stash to see what I may need to purchase.

Oh...She did recently get a package of Fat Quarters but I had it sent directly from the internet site! I'm sooo bad!

Nor have I finished the Christmas Quilts I was going to give, and somehow, don't see that happening this Christmas!

There's always next year!

FranW 12-26-2010 03:13 PM

I make that vow every year. So far it hasn't worked out too well. LOL!

G'ma Kay 12-26-2010 03:19 PM

Please remind me again in July

Quiltaddict 12-27-2010 06:32 PM

Great idea. I will be retiring in June, so I'll be able to start in July on my gifts. That's the plan anyway.

katcincinnati 12-28-2010 07:01 PM

I needed to start on Christmas for next Christmas and that didn't happen sooooooo. Guess I'll be stressing again.

That is what I told my students. Had one lady that did not get her quilt finished. As I was cleaning the Sewing Studio I found some of the patterns I wanted to make this year for Christmas. Guess those need to do to the top of my list/stack.

Diecy 12-29-2010 08:33 PM

Plan to start In January making gifts and I also plan to make my ornaments for my tree for next Christmas. I'll have a homemade Christmas.
