I don't know much about the ott lights as I don't have one, but after I read on here about lowes having some bulbs I went to look. They call theirs Daylight bulbs and I have to say that they are super bright. I now have one in my living room light and sewing room and bath and am thinking about replacing the rest because it makes the house look so much brighter and the rooms that I have the normal energy saver lights now have a yellow look to them. I think I will stick with that for now as it was WAY cheaper.

If your sewing room needs lightbulbs, try the compact floresent "DAYLIGHT" bulbs in light fixtures, ceiling fans, etc. work great. I bought mine on sale at Walgreens and I have my quilting area in the basement room with no windows. My quilting area looks like the sun is shining in my room with a total of six compact florescent "daylight" bulbs. Alot of my friends have converted their reading rooms etc with these light bulbs. Just remember if they don't say "daylight" their will have a pink hue and it's not as bright. Also, note that these compact bulbs become brighter after they are on for a minute or so.

I bought a Ott desk lamp on sale at Jo-Ann's, which I keep by on my sewing machine cabinet. It is great!

I was looking for a desk lamp for across the room on a desk unit and a floor lamp to go between the sewing machine cabinet and the table that has my serger on it. I found these lamps at Big Lots!

The brand at Big Lots is "Grandrich", but they look exactly like these below:

Desk Lamp ($22.99 at Big Lots)

Floor Lamp ($29.99 at Big Lots)

So, if it doesn't say Ott on the lamp, then it is a knock-off. Is that correct?
Daylight bulbs are not the same, but they do work for some people.

I just love the Ott Lights and have 5 of them throughout the house. Love them. But the best light for my sewing machine is called The Bendable Light. With this littl;e light that sticks to your machine, I literally do not need any other light on in the room when I sew. It is awesome. Just google The Bendable Light. I think Quilt In A Day is now selling them. Sev. online places carry them. And the bulb is guaranteed for 10,000 hours. And they run anywhere from $39-$49.97.
