I make quite a few patriotic ones for the Veterans here in Phoenix. I like them more rectangular but love this pattern. I add something at the top and bottom to help with that. This one is made with 2 inch strips.

If you hate to cut the fabric, check out Jordan Fabrics. They are cut PERFECTLY so all you have to do is sit down and sew. They are also cut on the length of fabric so they don't stretch. There are a wide variety of fabrics to choose from and all you have to worry about is getting the right 1/4" . I love their log cabins.! Also, they are not pinked so you don't have to worry about that crazy edge.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but, Quilt in a Day has a log cabin quilt that has the stars throughout the design. I made one for my cousin and she loved it.

zozee, I've made about three Log Cabin quilts with earth tones. If you would like to know my source, send me a pm. The fabrics I used are all the same print, but available in 17 different shades. I made this quilt for my sister -- of course this is for a king size bed, but you could make it much smaller if you wish --

Zozee have you looked at Orion's Star by Eleanor Burns? I made that one years ago and am pretty sure that I posted it here. I don't know how to link it but I will try to see if I have a picture saved on this computer.
