Log Cabin made entirely of peepers
Hi all
I am trying to find a pattern to make a log cabin block. A spry young man with a walker told me his wife had bought it for his walker as the seat was hard :) It is very unusual and noone around here in Queensland that I know has a clue. Peepers were new to me as it was but to have a block made with them was sweet. Anyone know of it? Thanks Heather |
I'm not sure if you are looking to make the cover from log cabin blocks or not. Peepers to me, are chicks, so I don't think I would want something made out of baby chicks. hmmm......

Do you mean "peeps"?
http://www.hartsfabric.com/its-a-pee...s-a-peep-65268 Peeps are traditional Easter candy here. It's the one food product that is better stale ;-) The candy used to come only in yellow, but now are available in a variety of colors. Here's the fabric line info: It's A Peep by Kanvas Studio, Benartex |
Here in NY peepers are teeny tiny 2.5 cm frogs that are peeping their hearts out looking for mates! Definitely Not for sitting on.
Well, here's a nice, easy-to-follow tutorial on making a log cabin block.
You can make it out of whatever you choose; even turn it into a pillow top. http://www.equilters.com/library/log...bin_part1.html |

I wonder if he could have meant that "eggcrate" foam stuff. It kinda looks like peeps . . . .
So the peeper is the cushion for the walker? And its cover is a log cabin block?
Inquiring minds want to know - what are peepers in Australia?
Peepers are baby carriers...the kind, usually jersey (?), that's a sling-like wrap to carry your baby in front so you have your hands free.
Heather I know what a peeper border is as I am south of the border to you - NSW - and I have put the link below as it is easier than me trying to explain. One of the ladies in my quilt group has just finished a quilt using this method. So this is what a peeper is to us in the Land of Oz

Oh! A flange or piped border! ;)
There is a method of making log cabin blocks using folded strips. I think it is called Foldy Log Cabin by Donna Posten? Basically a sew and flip method.
I had to go looking around- just google Foldy Stuff or Donna Poster (not Posten). Very neat patterns, and easy as pie! I had seen her on a quilt show several years ago, and she now has many more designs adapted for the method- curved log cabin, pineapple, hexagons, etc. using iron on templates. No need for batting as the blocks use a bit more fabric than conventional sewing. Very innovative, great for beginners as well. What a fun version of peepers! I hope this is what you are looking for.

Okay. That's like foundation by the yard by Berartex. It comes in many quilt block designs. You buy as much as you need. Here's a link to another forum on this site from 2010.

My My how one word can have so many different meanings, amazing but peepers are chicks to ma ((:))
I to have learned something new today. The funny thing is that just last night I finished cutting out 1"strips to do just that on my 9-Patch on point quilt. Had no idea that it had a name other then a folded edge. :) Thank you.
log Cabin blocks are made here by using strips of material running one way for the top half of the block and then reverse the strips going the other way or down the block, using made by using four blocks to make a 12" block.
We all learned something today. Thanks mate.

An old nickname for eyes is peepers as in the fun song- Jeepers creepers, Where'd you get those peepers. I once corresponded with a lady from NZ and had to explain what New Englanders call Fall Leaf Peepers (changing foliage tourists). Glad the mystery is solved. This was Fun!

I also thought of baby chicks and the peeps candy (still love them). I was waiting to see a log cabin quilt block made from different fabrics all with baby chicks on it.

Hi Heather from another Queenslander. I saw this on QB a while back and kept it because it looked interesting. Didn't know it was called peepers. To me peepers are eyes. Guess that shows my age. I hope these pics help.
I am so confused --peepers are candy chicks that was only yellow- now multi-colors .Also peppers are frogs which we call peet frogs who are singing for a mate.Egg crate is foam. I truly think I have been smelling paint to long and the day is far to spent.Maybe you can find a log cabin pattern on equilters.

Ahhhh! We used to call that piping. Sometimes, there was a cord running through the piping/peeper.
I still don't know what the OP was looking for - but the various definitions of 'peepers' has been fun!
