dark/light half-square ones, courthouse steps, uneven strips sized ones which make round looking designs, triangle ones, diamond shaped ones, rectangle ones, off center ones....OH MY!!

So much choise, so little time!

Not to be a naysayer here but I'm working on my first log cabin and have to say I'm not loving it at all! Have lovely fabrics and I'm strip piecing but it's just not grabbing me the way it does many others. I'm glad everyone is enjoying theirs but I don't see another one in my future.

Fast and easy. You can make so many different designs with the blocks.

Log cabin was the first block I ever made. That was all that was necessary. I was hooked!!

I can't say the piecing of the blocks is "fun" for me either, but putting them together into a quilt is what always gets me excited...so many choices as far as layouts.

I'd say the log cabin quilt is my favorite looking quilt, but not really my favorite block to piece. I hope I'm making sense. Usually it's the opposite for me (love to piece the blocks but get bored by the time the blocks get put into a quilt).

So, maybe you will love the part of seeing it come to life once the blocks are displayed together.

I love log cabin quilts. I'm making a scrappy courthouse steps right now for a queen bed in 1 1/4" strips (before sewing) and it's so relaxing and unstressful just to sit and sew without hardly thinking. It's almost like meditating. I don't measure, just cut my strips as I go to square it up. So far, no problems with block sizes. They are taking me about 15 minutes per 7" block, but I'm pressing as I sew.

Log cabin is one of my favorite blocks also. I made one yesterday for our barn, a Barn Quilt, love it! ! !
