i dont have a business
|
no i didn't because my setup only cost $2000 and the existing policy would cover that loss.
if i spent $35,000 on a setup i certainly would have looked into it further. |

Be overly protective just in case, Sherryl Candlequilter |
It may be already covered - check with your insurance agent.
|
Yes.
|
Definitely. Your agent will probably not understand your question when you tell him you want extra insurance for your sewing machine. But be persistent. I believe its called a rider on your policy. It names a specific item to be insured above and beyond your normal policy. Ive done it before for musical instruments. A policy that covers a "sewing machine" is not expecting to pay off on a $30,000 Statler!

Sorry...double post...obviously my fingers are moving faster than my brain this morning.

Yes we did add on a rider to our original policy. And we added an est. for fabric, attachments, etc. So if I remember right, we added a $40,000 rider. The LA was right under $25,000. We also have a rider for my DH's guns and my jewelry. Our Homeowner policy with out the rider, would only cover up to a certain dollar amt of contents of the house.

i checked with my agent- did not have to increase our insurance- but made sure it was included on the inventory list- with ALL DOCUMENTS showing the cost.
you should add to your inventory list any quilts-with documentation too- if you have a fire- the insurance will only allow you the cost of going to walmart and buying a blanket-for replacement- unless you have documentation that it is worth more than that.. when we bought our house my hubby made me sit down with our insurance agent- and go over the whole quilting (thing) with him- my investment--the (risks involved) of having other people's quilt tops in my home-for quilting-- it's a good idea- different insurance companies-and policies will have their own (answers) |
Yes, I had to take a business policy out, as my homeowners wouldn't give me a rider, nor would any of the companies I called in our area.
|
I didn't initially, but I do now.
