Longarmers

Which machine do you have?
Any Nolting owners out there?

Here is one! I love my Nolting Pro 24 and a 12' table. I way over bought for my needs but I don't think it was a mistake at all. It has a stitch regulator on it which I only use when I do Pantos. Other than that any quilting is all my handiwork. No upgraded computer. The company is wonderful and their service and tech support has never failed me, Mostly when I was first learning how to handle the machine.

I had quite a time getting the balance right at first but in time and with practice, as with any tool, I love setting it up for each new quilt.

I don't own one but use my Mom's Nolting when I visit. Nice machine but her service rep is terrible. I wish we could get some support.

Good luck.

sewwhat85 12-09-2013 03:24 PM

i have a nolting pro 24 and love it I also have one of the first 10 nolting 18 machines that they built when they opened it is at my daughters house Nolting has great service even over the phone they have helped me fix my machine

love 2 sew 12-09-2013 03:39 PM

I got a used Pro 30 in May from Nolting. I like it but I don't seem to have the control I'd like to have and it seems the slower I go the worse it is. I guess I just need more practice. We liked the simplicity of the machine as a selling point.

newbee3 12-09-2013 05:07 PM

I have a used nustyle bought from nolting I love it and they are great customer service

aborning 12-09-2013 05:26 PM

I have a APQS Freedom. I have had it two years now and I love it. Have had no problems with it. (I had a Tin Lizzie 18 before that and had many problems with it during the year I had it). I doubt I will ever part with my APQS.

momto5 12-09-2013 05:53 PM

I have a Gammill Premier Plus with a 12-foot table. I would show you a picture of her, but she is currently recovering from her last adventure, a king-sized 1980's appliqued quilt. She said "no interviews today" so I have to go along with her...she's the breadwinner in the family! Maybe later....

Tiggersmom 12-09-2013 05:56 PM

I have the Gammill Classic Plus, 12ft table.

Digitizingqueen 12-09-2013 06:16 PM

gammill statler here, love my machine and my computer there is always a learning curve with any long arm machine, but one you get it down it is perfection!

Spice 12-09-2013 06:38 PM

I bought a used Nolting a couple of years ago and liked it so much I invested in a brand new one. The rep is great and the company stands behind their machines. Good luck.

TexasSunshine 12-09-2013 09:01 PM

I have the Nolting Funquilter and am learning to use it. It seems to be a good machine. DH has had good tech support from our dealer and the manufacturer. We traded in a Voyager 17 that always had problems.

AndiR 12-09-2013 09:44 PM

One Prodigy and one A-1 with IntelliQuilter robotic system.

lfletcher 12-10-2013 05:53 AM

I have a Gammill Vision 18/8 with a 10' table. It's pictured in my avatar. I've had it since June 2011 and love it.

soccertxi 12-10-2013 06:05 AM

I am partnered with an Innova 22 inch on a 12 foot frame. She has been workhorse the past week. Yesterday we finished. bound and delivered a memory quilt. It was made with khaki and chino pants and lots of shirts. She came thru with flying colors! I have had 2 different frames and 3 diff machines before 'Jane' came to live at my house. I will not be changing companies again! The customer service is the best!

mighty 12-10-2013 07:27 AM

Babylock crown jewel on pearl frame.

Bobbielinks 12-10-2013 07:56 AM

Gammill Classic on 14 foot table, no computer nor stitch regulator. Love it!! I purchased it new from West Plains, Mo. 13 years ago and have only had it back to the dealer one time (operator error) Have now quilted over a 1,000 quilts on it with no problems. A great workhorse.

Cindy60545 12-11-2013 02:32 AM

I've got the Queen Quilter 18, a Tin Lizzie, on a 10' frame. I've had "Queenie" now for 1 1/2 years & really like her. She's had a couple of glitches, but have gotten good service from Tin Lizzie. Only thing on her is stitch regulation. I don't do pantos at all, just freehand everything.

Scrappy Gram 12-11-2013 03:23 AM

I have a Handiquilter 16 - computerized with Prostitcher

whinnytoo 12-11-2013 04:16 AM

I have Nolting 24" Pro and wouldnt part with it for anything. I love it!! "We" work well together every day!

cheryl222 12-11-2013 04:20 AM

I have a 24" Nolting Pro. Got it this past summer and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I bought it without being able to test drive one and I couldn't be happier. She is a dream. Got the 12' table with the wheels and hydraulic lift. This was a major splurge for me but I haven't regretted it for even one nano-second.

JustAbitCrazy 12-11-2013 05:01 AM

Gammill Classic Plus (stitch regulator) and 14' table. Love her!

MamaHen 12-11-2013 05:29 AM

Wow, it is just amazing how many have their own midarm or longarm machines. I also have one, a Handi Quilter Avante.

Quiltladycreations 12-11-2013 05:42 AM

Check out local dealers. I think it is important to have service tech close by. Try out machines at quilt shows and see which one feels right and fits your budget. Make sure you get the sturdiest frame you can afford. It does make a difference on how this quilt loads. I have handiquilter Avante with a stitch regulator and 10 foot frame. I can load up to 110" (it's tight) but I don't do many big quilts and the frame fits my space with room to walk around it. Good luck on your search.

quiltinghere 12-11-2013 06:08 AM

Gammill Statler Stitcher on a 14 foot frame....accommodates the largest of largest quilts! Love it!

Have had a Janome Artistic 18 for almost two years. Have had several issues with it esp the jog switch. The wiring harness was replaced and it started working right for a few months, but now it is acting up again. I wish I had gotten the Innova 18 I wanted, but went with the Janome because there is a dealer nearby. They have been great, but the LA is not.

feline fanatic 12-11-2013 08:15 AM

26" ABM Innova on a 10' frame. Would love to have gotten a wider frame but 10' was all that I could fit in the room I have dedicated to it. I LOVE my Innova. No computer but I do have a stitch regulator which I feel really eased my learning curve to practically nothing.

GrmaHayes 12-11-2013 09:46 AM

I started out with a Janome with a grace frame. After several years I just upgraded to a Nolting MAQ 14. It's an awesome machine. One word of advice, use really good cotton thread, it doesn't like cheaper thread, I learned the hard way. I put it in use about a month ago and love it! I've done several quilts through it already. The only thing is I kept my Grace frame because I didn't feel I could afford a new frame. It limits my movement ability, but I'm sure someday I will upgrade and that will be great. It's everything I wanted in a home machine, I don't do quilts for other people. I had to call the company a couple of times to ask questions and they were very nice and quick to know what I was doing wrong. I only paid $3,000 for my machine and it was worth every penny.

tupoms 12-11-2013 10:04 AM

I thought I had a TL 18 because I purchased it as a TL & it has a TL plate on it, but just had it upgraded by Dekk't Out Quilting & turns out it is really a 2007 Viking 18x8. Big surprise, be careful about purchasing a used quilting machine even from a dealer.

ArchaicArcane 12-11-2013 10:17 AM

APQS Lucey with the 12ft frame, Stitch regulator, no computer. I've only had her since the beginning of November and not nearly enough time with her. In fact, I'm going to get off this computer and go spend some time with her. :)

I'm thinking the first upgrade will be the hydraulic lift. I swore I'd never need it, but apparently some days I'm shorter than others.

quiltnutt 12-11-2013 10:53 AM

I have a Nolting Pro 24" and love it.
The machine is super easy to maintain.
I did all my homework and test drove machines before I bought my machine.
I really like that it is all made in the USA. The cust service is top notch. If you have to call and ask questions, the guys never ever rush you and make sure you get the problem solved. Even is it is putting the needle in backwards...lol

if you have any questions send me an email and I will be happy to answer any question

sguillot 12-11-2013 10:55 AM

Yes, I have a Nolting

janice1120 12-11-2013 10:55 AM

I have a Tin Lizzie and do mostly loops and meandering and some pantoms. How do you do borders with a different, I can do the top and bottom borders, but cannot figure out how to continue down the sides and make it anything at all like the top and bottom. I need some help.

jillnjo 12-11-2013 11:04 AM

I have a Gammill Statler and am in the learning stages yet. Very challenging, but exciting. The possibilities are endless and I doubt I'll ever stop learning.

Cam's gram 12-11-2013 12:36 PM

I have a Handi Quilter Avante with the Pro Stitcher. Love it!

So sorry to hear that. My first rep. was not so good but that rep is no longer with the company. Let the company know you are not getting the help you need.

One of the fun things about Nolting if you call them you just may get the owner answering the phone. A nice intimate company.
peace

Hi, Janice. If you are wanting to use a pantograph on side borders, you need to first do the top border, continue quilting down through the middle, complete the bottom border, then as long as the side borders are stabilized with stitch-in-the ditch or basting stitches, the quilt is removed and reloaded the other way. Then those side borders are quilted as the new top and bottom borders.

I have a tin Lizzie Ansley 26 with 12' table. Love it! Great customer service!
