I get to pick it up tonight. SHe has another one but I didn't buy it. It is a Franklin in a beautiful cabinet with wonderful attachments.
She's a beauty!!! I'm sure with a little love from you she will shine in all her splender! Congrats!
Lucky you! Does it work? If not, they're still nice to look at, aren't they?
It does not work yet. I will work on that.
That is a wonderful toy. Lucky you   Enjoy.
Oh! I'm wiping away the drool from my keyboard. How wonderful! Do you plan to use it or just keep it around for inspiration?
I think it would be a real trip to make a quilt on a treadle machine. That is my goal.
Wow, that looks great. I would love to have one too. I'm a regular at all the thrift shops around here just in case...
She's a beaut!!
What a great find!
Man, everyone is getting super cool old machines!  Have fun with your pretty treasure!
I am green, green, green with envy! I would love to have one of those!
Good for you! My first treadle was a singer, though not as fancy as yours!
If you are able to, if they offer it to you, get the franklin. I have the franklin, it is also a good machine! It's a clone of your singer, and good to have for extra parts, if you decide to use the machine.. I want one of those singers someday. Old machines are like Potato Chips.. You can't have just one!(I have 12) |
Oh my she's gorgeous once you take her to the beauty shop she's going to be a knock out :)
What a beautiful machine.
The decals are bright and eye catching. Happy sewing with it. Sandi |
Absolutely beautiful!!!!! :D :D :D
Oh, you lucky girl. She's a keeper. Enjoy her. What 's her name?
I dunno. I have only just brought her home. I think I will live with her for a while before deciding. She was born on February 7th 1900 in Elizabeth NJ. I am so proud!!!
A nice score indeed!
Quilting on a treadle is very special, to me it brings you back to a more simple time and back to the roots of it all so to speak. But then again the only sewing machines I use are treadled so I am biased in my opinion LOL! But like it was stated before the vintage machines like that are like potato chips, you can never have just one. Billy |
wowee, K! wowee! :D
She is a beauty. All she needs is your loving care and she will shine.
This looks exactly like the machine my Grandmother had. She taught me how to sew. Getting the rhythm was tricky but what fun. What a treasure for you. Thanks for sharing and bringing back great old memories for me.
That looks like the one I have!! It was given to me because I am the only sewer in my husband's family.
I haven't tried mine to see if it works, but I don't think it does. Looks like the belts will need replaced. |
She's a beauty!
Just want to say it is gorgeous! My grandmother taught me how to sew on a machine just like it!
Oh K!!!! :D :D 8) 8) :D :D
She is a beauty!!! I love the intricate detailing and the cabinent is gorgeous too!!! I would be too busy doing the "Happy Dance" to do anything but touch and drool over her    I can't wait to see your first quilt made on her :D  8) :D  8) |
She is very beautiful. My friend has given me a old singer, but I haven't gotten her home yet, I do have a place set up for her though. My family worked at singer in Truman Arkansas,I have since found out it was used as a warehouse and not a production site.I used to think singer was the only machine there was, because thats all everyone had .

Kwhite - she IS a beauty BUT I have to reprimand you... she is NOT a tTOY... she is a TOOL.. (with which to create beautiful things) My husband has drumed this into my head for years.---when he came home with a new power tool.... I would say.. Hey what a cool TOY! Au contraire. THIS is a TOOL.... soooo I am jealous of your new tool.. I hope you get hours and hours of pleasure from this machine... my only experience with a treadle was I could only sew BACKWARDS..... lol!
I recently was offered my grandmother's machine by my family.
I also learned to sew on that machine at my mother's side. She made clothes for the entire family on that treadle machine. I am anxious to receive the machine and work with it. Have a great time. Our local quilt shop has belts and such for Singer treadles. Check the shops or repair shops in your area and see how they can help. |

you are very lucky. I have one that I found at a flea market years ago and it runs beautifully. I just had to clean it up and get a new belt for it. My son made a pillow for his little sister on mine when he was a young teen. He didn't want to get in trouble for using my electric one so he used that one. I just recently ran across one at a yard sale but the guy wanted way to much for it
hmmm I have one sitting out in my upper floor of the barn collecting dust
Woohoo K, what a find! Why not call her Elizabeth after her place of birth? :D
Congratulations! That's the closest one to mine I've seen. The only thing I see (so far) different is the handles on your drawers. Mine just has little wooden knobs.
Mine was also born in Elizabeth, NJ 9 March 1909 |
Very pretty
love it

How beautiful! I have one just like it that really works. I just hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. I am new and totally love this site. I find all of your quilt work exceptional. I am new to quilting and just hope one day to produce as beatiful work as I have seen on this site.

It's a beautiful machine. I also have one. We display it in the entry of our home with some old family pictures sitting on the lid of the cabinet. I made a small quilt and attached under the pressure foot. This gives us an opportunity to share the wonderful old machine, family pictues and a bit of my needle work. Enjoy, it's a wonderful bit of the past.
