I finally got to visit a LQS in Lexington NC this Saturday. It is called Quilting Quest. They also have a web site. I would recommend this shop to everyone. Lynn the owner is such a nice lady and very helpful. I will most certainly be going back again. They are having UFO night next Friday evening. The fabric is very reasonably priced. Lynn is also having a sale next weekend so be sure to visit if you can get down that way. I also went to JoAnn fabric this afternoon to purchase something so I too can be a stripper.

These are the fabrics from Quilting Quest. The cutting grid is from Joann trip

This is what I am making from the fabric I got at Quilting Quest. It is going to be a fence rail

This is from my stripping. The yellow flower fabric in background is for another quilt that I need to finish. It is from Joann trip. The strips are longer than shown here. they are still folded up.

Beautiful start to a great quilt!

A stripper is one who cuts strips of fabric to be used in quilt designs. Example: for the fence rail you need lots of strips sewn together first and then cut into squares. It also makes for a good joke to tell someone that you are a striper, just watch their eyes. Lynn used this one on me Saturday in her shop.

Stitchnripper 03-06-2011 02:38 PM

Nice choices!!

quiltlonger 03-06-2011 02:40 PM

I've only seen rail fence in three strips like the way it makes 2 rails!

I ordered that cutter from nancysnotions.com, can't wait for it to come so I too can become a "stripper". Another good one for my GKs, especially the teens.

I have a book that states that you can use as many strips as you like as long as you have a square. The possibilites are endless.

Thanks, it actually has 5 colors. I really wanted to make one with purples. The friend I had with me found the multicolor fabric and we went from there. I too can't wait to see this one finished to see what it will actually look like.

What is their website address?

matraina 03-07-2011 06:57 AM

The colors and patterns are beautiful. What a coincidence that someone else today wrote about Lynne's web and how good it is.

matraina 03-07-2011 06:58 AM

Just read the other articles today. You'll find the web address in one of them.

debbieumphress 03-07-2011 07:03 AM

Oh gosh, I have been a stripper for years now but now they came up with a ortho-cutting mat for those of us who need help stipping now. ROFL. I love to strip. ANd that wonderful strip cutter is great. And I would never have chosen those colors in a million years and now........shhhhhhhhhhesh, looks like I have another color selection I just love. Thank you for sharing. Love those colors....I have to look her site up now. :):):)

conniebrooks 03-07-2011 07:39 AM
