Nice Haul!!! I'm always amused when I see that someone stopped at a garage sale in March! No such thing as a March garage sale here in Indiana!!

We have yard sales year round here in Coastal Georgia.

Huldra 03-04-2012 06:00 AM

You are realy lucky!!!

Here in Norway where I live, is never a garage-sale with something that even can loock like fabricks. Maybe beacause ordinar price for a yard of cotton is about 31,5 us dollar.

I agree! However, you can go online and search for estate sales!!! I have two companies that I subscribe to and they send me updates on any sales in my area. Sometimes the prices can be high, but I quite often go back on the second day when prices are half off. You can view pics of the things available so I can decide if there's anything I want to go check out. I have found tons of fabric, patterns, buttons, etc...even FW's! It helps break the boredom of these long winter months!

Great deal! Yard sales are showing up here but no bargains like that. Have fun with your fabrics.

Elaine433 03-04-2012 06:56 AM

You did good. No yard sales around here yet either.

You found a great buy. In the past year i have gone to 2 estate sales and come home with quite a haul. The 1st one I got 76 yd for $76. The ladies that were having the sale didn't know the value of fabric. They did not have it priced, it was just on shelves. Myself and 1 other lady was there so we got all the good fabric. The way we figured out what I owed was i used the measure from you nose to outstretched hand = 1 yd. We sat on the front porch while I measured it. The 2nd one they had everything priced. I bought at least 100 yd fabric at $1 yd. She also had thread marked at $.50 a spool. It was Sulky & Mettler thread normally $2.49 - $2.79 unless it is on sale here. Sometimes Hancock & Joann has it for 50% off. Some of them still had the clear wrapping on them. I got about 50 spools. Won't have to buy thread for awhile.

I was on my way home from town and saw a garage sale sign. I had a bit of time, so I checked it out. Turns out the gal was a quilter and was getting rid of a few pieces of fabric..... I bought a bit over 20 yds for $25!!! She either liked purple or didn't like purple..a lot of purple...butterfly fabric, fish fabric, a yard of red and a blue and white print. Here are some pictures. The last two were "pieces". Looked like the leftovers from quilt backings, but plenty of it. Nothing under a yard! I'm still doing the "happy dance"!

You did good girl!!!! You made a great haul. You've got to love garage sales. Looks like you will be having some fun!!! Enjoy

Here in Washington they have them inside....smile.....I scored at the local school sale and got over 13 yds in large pieces (one is 9 yds. ) and a bunch of cottons and flannels in pices about equal to fat quarters and paid $6.00.

The yard sale signs are starting to venture out here in NE Kansas since we have had no winter...CRAZY!!!

Doreen 03-04-2012 10:48 AM

what a great find.

cheaha39 03-04-2012 04:56 PM

Great find, it has warmed up in the south and I am glad garage sales are back in bussiness. Now if we can just stop the hail and wind, it is hard to shop when you are being blown away.

Mazda 03-04-2012 04:58 PM

Oh my! What a fnd!

imdelagarza62 03-04-2012 05:03 PM

Great score!

That is wonderful! We live just south of Sylvia K in Texas. We look at the newspapers Thurs., Fri. and Sat. to see what is for sale at garage sales.
Right now we are in Indiana, and it is COLD here! Saw a little snow when we got here early this morning.

Nice haul, i went to an estate sale two weeks ago, she had at least a ton of linens, all kinds of sewing supplies, buttons, pins and needles, i picked up a box that i thought had linen fabric in it and it was a set of embroidered pillow cases, have no clue what i will do with them, not my thing. Her house was so full, i am surprised the fire dept, wasn't called, cause if their was a fire in that house we all would have gone up in smoke, it was a townhouse. Any way it was fun

justflyingin 03-04-2012 09:47 PM

That is so neat and yes, amazing that they were having a garage sale in OK so early! What is the temp there?

We have had a warm winter even for us! Lately it has been in the 60's to 80's (F). We are already mowing the lawn and the cows are turning down hay (thank goodness!) for the green pastures. Our fruit trees are blooming. Of course, it will probably be a hot summer. It normally gets over 100* F here for several weeks during the summer. I just bought a screen door for my quilting shed so that I don't have to turn that airconditioner on until I absolutely have to! Here are a few pictures I took this evening before sundown. The first is our apricot tree starting to bloom, the second is one of our cows placidly enjoying the green grass and the last is a picture of my quilting shed where I've been most of the day with the new screen door propped up against it.

Great score! BTW My friend and I did a "in house" yard sale over last weekend and she made over $800 bucks!
