The OP was looking for cutting techniques.
The only advice I can give is: when you start cutting into a stack of fabric, do not put your cutter into the stack from the end. If the stack is of many layers, it just bunches up. Set your cutter into the fabric a couple of inches from the end, then pull it back, cutting, toward yourself. They reset the cutter and continue the cut away from yourself. It helps to have a really sharp blade, too. |
Slash and Stack is also what I know this block as being named.

I think McDugan is right; I just saw that the other day too. Neat idea. Does anyone else ever wonder "Why didn't I think of that"? I do all the time.

I just re-saw a Sharyn Craig youtube called Layer Em Up. It sounds as if that's what you're looking for.

There is also a Buggy Barn pattern. I think it is Buggy Stars or Crazy Stars. I did 1 of these for Blue Star Moms 1 yr.
It was fun & looked quite nice. |
