why rush a gift for such an important friend on such an important occasion.

I agree. A rushed project will look like a rushed project.

I agree. I would tell them it's coming. Then you can put your heart and soul into it!

What about making a nice quilt label and wrapping that up? Then when you finish her quilt you can get the label back from her and sew it on?

That's a sweet idea too.

You can always put a picture of a quilt you are going to make in the card and let them know that theirs is in the process of being created..... I am sure they would understand and love the anticipation of a quilt from you.

For almost every wedding I've been invited to in the past 30 years I've made the couple a patchwork Christmas Tree skirt in nice Christmas fabric and for one wedding, the bride said her decorating color choices in her home would be burgundy, dark forest greens and yellow/golds. I made her skirt with these colors and it turned out gorgeous. Some of the skirts have been made in velvets and taffeta fabric, others are cotton fabrics. Each skirt has been well received, are still being used and the skirts go together fast.

A fairly quick and easy quilt is the Turning Twenty Quilt.

wedding presents do not have to be given on the day of the wedding ... take your time and make something you know the couple will love and appreciate and deliver when completed ... they can open their gift (or not) when you are present and you will be able to SEE that they are pleased.
