Yes, you need to put a triangle on opposite sides of the hexagon. This link will give you an idea of how it works:

It was 1900 series, show 1904. I've been looking for the pattern also. I've been quilting for 4 years and this one sounds interesting. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know what a digital pattern is? Is it one that is downloaded when you pay for it. I found it for $5.00.

A digital pattern is one that is downloaded after you pay for it. Where did you find the pattern?

I was curious to see what this pattern looked like. I went to my stash of quilt magazines and the first Fons & Porter magazine I came to was Easy Quilts Scrap Quilts Fall 2011 ! kid you not....lol I love the log cabin hexagon Feedsack Flowers and is going in my quilts to make pile. Thanks for posting !

See if this works for u. http://www.fonsandporter.com/content...Ozark_Star.pdf

I bought a regular hexagon ruler. Was in the quilting section at Joanns and a fraction of the cost of F&P. I made this pattern and it came out really nice

I'd never do one difficult again when show an easier way.

Thank you for the book review. I just ordered a copy from Amazon. I'm always looking for new methods to make quilt blocks for guild demos. This method seems really different and fun. Guild members think I'm a genius finding all the new stuff, thanks to this board!

Good luck in finding the Fons and Porter Hexagon templates - I have been looking at JoAnns every time that I go and they have an empty spot for the tool - just no tool. Sewing with Nancy also had a show on making a very large hexagon quilt and it is an easy way to to Grandmother's Flower Garden. She probably has her own templates too.
