Love the cabling, love the quilt.

Exactly how I see it. FLW did not use curves except for a few circles.

klswift 09-26-2015 08:13 AM

I really like it. I like to add a curvy element to a very linear top. I think it provides a good balance - beautiful quilt.

ELDRED 09-26-2015 08:45 AM

I love the quilt but I would have put the squares too keep with the flow of the quilt.

Friday1961 09-26-2015 10:10 AM

I like it, too! I think it sets off the geometry of the piecing.

trolleystation 09-26-2015 10:37 AM

That wonderful column effect softens and enhances the quilt.

I'm not a fan of unsewing, but if you do, I would quilt angles to mimic the chevrons.

If you keep it with the cables, I'd add in more angular lines around it to add drama to the quilt.

What a beautiful quilt!!! I do like the cable!!!

MadQuilter 09-26-2015 11:13 AM

I don't think the traditional cables go all that well with the modern quilt but if you add more modern quilting lines it will work.

tesspug 09-26-2015 11:15 AM

I think it's terribly awesome.

rosiewell 09-26-2015 03:09 PM

I think it's great

junegerbracht 09-26-2015 03:17 PM

I really like the cables and they are well done! What is most important though is what you like.

bearisgray 09-26-2015 05:21 PM

The original poster said she removed the cables in Post #25!!!!!!

Momala24 09-26-2015 07:01 PM

I say awesome! Love it. Great job.

Thanks for clarifying that, bear. I saw that post, but didn't get that gonzo meant "gone". Learned something new today. :)

It is Awesome!

Texas_Sue 09-26-2015 08:26 PM

I really love the cables - It makes your quilt come to life. I also love this quilt - the pattern, the fabric the colors! Great job.

Personally, in keeping with the pattern, I would quilt it in linear lines. Cables are "soft". You asked for honesty!

I think a crosshatch would have complimented the design of your beautiful work.

illinois 09-27-2015 04:13 AM

Is this the one that is supposed to duplicate a church window? I really like your cables but not in this place. If you want something in those spaces, maybe a cross-hatch that would be more like something you would see in a church window?

Yes I thought this also. How about a little echo quilting to fill it in.

Yooper32 09-27-2015 04:32 AM

I too thought that the cable was too narrow for the space, but then also thought that if the straight-line quilting were done on the vertical lines on each side, that would balance it out nicely.

sinceresissy 09-27-2015 04:42 AM

I think I would put a straight line on each side of the cable and that way it would fill the space. I like the cable in that space. It just needs a little tweak. Ha!

Debbie C 09-27-2015 05:08 AM

The cable adds a very nice touch to your beautiful quilt! Good choice!!

What about another couple of curvy lines to echo the cable curves? Or some narrow straight lines of matchstick quilting on either side of the narrow black sashing lines? I really like this quilt!!

I like the "echo" idea to fill the spaces a little more completely! Good thought.

Iowa Grandma 09-27-2015 06:11 AM

I think the cables add another dimension to a mostly geometric quilt. Like the result.

thank you!

aileen

WOW! that is so cool? I love the colors and it's brilliant.

skypony 09-27-2015 06:20 AM

what is an "echo"? Besides being reverb in an amplifier for an electric guitar, is just repeating the pattern block?

In my opinion, I agree.

zennia 09-27-2015 07:03 AM

My honest opinion---I love it.

debbiemarie 09-27-2015 08:52 AM

It's awesome!

Farm Quilter 09-27-2015 05:18 PM

Your cables are beautiful, but I think they look a bit lonely in that large space. Try echoing them three times and then do a linear filler for the rest of the white area. I like lots of quilting and if you don't then you would think I go overboard with quilting!! Beautiful quilt!

DOTTYMO 09-27-2015 10:36 PM

Those cables complement the long window shape and are great.

CarolinePaj 09-27-2015 11:10 PM

Looks awesome to me!
