Joy, questions are NEVER a bother. That is WHY most of us visit this site on a daily basis to help other quilters. Most quilters assume that you are doing a scrappy. Do you know the size of block you want to make such as 8", 10" or 12"?? Then how many strips and widths. Something in my head keeps referring to 10 yards for a queen. I haven't made one in over a decade. PM me if you would like me to draw a log cabin quilt 2 post on the thread.

Thank you so much but that would be too much trouble for you. I was thinking an 82 x 96 with 3 darks and 3 lights. Maybe 6 across and 7 down with 2 inch strips. Something in this ballpark. I am currently doing a king scrappy and have made at least 3 trips to the LQS for more fabric. I wanted to do this one in the order of graduating from the lightest to darkest. I had several older books with the patterns in them but I always give everything away. Not complaining because I am blessed to do so. Thanks again for all the helpp

And this one if you decide to go with 1.5" cut strips:

Ok Joy, lets assume 82 inches wide divided by 6 block is approx 13.4 inches but we'll call it 14 inches finished for ease of calculation. This will give you a quilt 84 x 98 with 6 blocks by 7 blocks. Here are the approximations given to me by EQ7:http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=495097&stc=1
http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=495094&stc=1 Please keep in mind these are only approximations but they should give you somewhere to start. You'll have to make adjustments based on exactly which log cabin pattern you are using and the size of your logs.

Many, many thanks. Just what I need.
