omg it is just too cute

Jenny from MSQC does one called the Zig Zag table runner with charm packs that you might be able to adapt. Hopefully someone recognizes the picture and can give you the pattern name.
|
Here you go. It's called Accent Your Focus Table Runner.

This board never ceases to amaze me. It's wonderful to have such a wealth of knowledge in one place.

If someone finds this in a free version would you please share with us. I really like this & it looks easy enough but, I need the instructions to make. I'm not a good DIY'er. I also, can't see paying $8.00 for the pattern. But, that's just me.
|
I love it, thank you Peckish for the link!
|
That is beautiful and it would showcase a fabric I have. I will watch and hope that someone can find something like it that is free, or at least less than $8.00.

Table runner design
It looks like a log cabin around the focus fabric, perhaps courthouse steps? I'd use a 6" or 8" square and add 2" strips around. I'd make 4 of these and cut one into 1/4's to create the small insets. Actually, there are 4 patches used to connect the 3 major 'squares' so this would need to be accounted for on two sides of each of the major squares. I don't have the photo of the pattern up as I write this so I hope this provides enough info to go on. Might be an experiment but hopefully it'll work!

This is absolutely gorgeous.
|
I think Laynak has it right. Going to try this one ad hoc.
|
I've got EQ6 so might try my hand at designing one in that.;) I did notice it does Not have binding on the edges but is pillow turned so that would make it much faster to finish.
|
It sure is very pretty.
|
I had never seen that one before...thanks for posting the picture and thanks to the person with the link.
|
Just make five blocks and layer three on top of two. That's the easy way I'd do it.
|
Thank you Peckish for the link. I had totally forgotten about Quilter's Warehouse. That was probably a good thing as I just found some patterns that I just cannot live without. Hey I worked hard, I'm retired and quilting is my passion.
|
That will make a really pretty table runner.

You would use your favorite method to make the blocks, it would not have to be exactly the same but your version of it. |
You ladies are awesome! Thanks Peckish for posting the link!
|
Are you sure you need a pattern? I may not be the sharpest tack in the box but even I could figure this pattern out.
|
Well, I'm an antique tack so I need all the help I can get. It's a beautiful runner and I have added it to my to do list. Thanks for posting the picture.

What a cute table runner! it almost makes me want to make it!
|
it's a great runner!

Here is my take on how to do it: And I would make it reversible if it were me. For each side, Make 4 blocks the same size, based on how large you want your finished table runner. I would probably go for 15" to 20". For 15" finished blocks: Cut focus center squares 7.5", need 4. First edging, cut 2.5" x 7.5", need 8. Next side, 2.5" x 11.5", need 8. Second edging: Cut 2.5" x 11.5", need 8. Next side, 2.5" x 15.5", need 8. Carefully cut the 4th square into quarters. Lay out the blocks as in the photo, and sew the quarter blocks to the whole blocks in rows as per layout. then sew the rows together. Repeat above for the back, making sure you lay it out to match the reverse side of the first one.
You can now stitch right sides together, leaving a space for turning, or cut and add a binding. If you feel confident of your narrow edge seam, you can press under (and glue if desired) your outside seams and topstitch the two layers together. A decorative stitch would be nice to use in this case. I think I have triple checked my math, but sometimes the fibro helps me make the same mistakes over and over. I suggest you do the math for yourself before cutting. Start with the finished size you desire, subtract the edging widths you desire x2 for each row of edging as there is edging on each side of the block. Use the finished size for these math problems, but don't forget to add in the 1/2" seam allowance before actually cutting. (for instance, I used 2" edging in the math, but cut at 2.5"). After subtracting the edgings, that leaves you with the size of your center square (plus 1/2" seam allowance). I hope this has been helpful to someone. I love this table runner and it looks much more complex than it actually seems to be on closer inspection. |
Thank you Wildyard for your detailed instructions. Think I will give it a go!
|
Thanks for the dimensions and directions, Wildyard. I would never have figured this one out on my own. Now I can make it. :)

Thank you Tigermum. Your comment. On how the binding was done has helped me as I could not work it out. I never think about bagging out always putting binding on.

I love the fabrics that were chosen for my design. Thank you to all who have purchased my pattern. I have been designing patterns for over 9 years. I am always honored when someone who chooses one of my pattern.

Good Morning! I just love this table runner pattern and with the help of those that contributed to this thread I was able to purchase the pattern. In the beginning of the pattern emphasis was put on a scant 1/4 of an inch. Since this is not a strong point of my quilting, I was wondering if anyone had a problem with accuracy? I just don't want to start something and get discouraged. Thanks you for locating this pattern and any suggestions and help

Does anyone know the name of floral print fabric in this table runner and the manufacturer name? I'd love to purchase this fabric if it is still available. Thanks!

I too am looking for the instructions for table runner accent your focus - don't mind paying $8.00 but shipping to uk is far to expensive

I think I will come up with the $8.00 and buy the pattern. I believe in paying the designer, it is how they make their living. <3
