looking for pictures of fabric stash/sewing area

Im thinking of ways to organize my closet / fabric stash. Right now my fabrics are in 2 boxes so they are basically buried. I sew in the dining area, keep my fabrics in a bedroom, and was thinking of using a chest in another bedroom, but realize I don't want things spread out that much.
I purchased a metal rack to hold fabrics on for my closet, its open and metal mesh.
Not sure how to lay fabric out, flat or folded - or in plastic containers.
Anyone have pictures how they organized their fabrics ? and sewing areas? Thanks!

There's a whole section for photos like that. You're sure to find plenty of inspiration there.

Go to the Home page of this Board and then scroll down to the sub-forum titled Mission: Organization (I think it is the 4th one?). You will find lots of helpful information there and photos too! That is where I learned about using comic boards to organize my stash.

I have part of my stash on open wire shelves and don't like it at all. I am thinking of putting something solid on the bottom of the shelf, then folding the fabric similar to the comic board/6 inch wide ruler fold. I will be looking for pictures from you to help me decide.

There are also many books to take a peek at. When I am waiting in line to get cut at JAF, I do take a look thru books. So many good ideas out there.

Barb in LA, why don't you like the wire shelves?

I have some on wire shelves but the bed of the shelves are covered with poster board because it's smooth on one side. Therefore no wire marks.

tessagin, good idea, didn't think of wire marks. Im not crazy about the wire shelf, but its what I have and have to make do. It should be better than the boxes though :)

I have a very large wire shelf in my sewing room. I bought it, when lowes had their displays 50% off. Used my neighbors truck to get it home and four people to get it downstairs. I also bought plastic see through bins and can stack them 2 high 4 across with my stash, you can see in the bins without opening the lids. also have the 12 by 12 scrappaper bins that are sold for scrap paper in and my finished 12 by 12 blocks fit in those.
