Never had a quilting buddy!!! :(
No one even lives close to me that quilts!
Self taught & still learning.. oh how I wish I had one too!!!

crafty_linda_b 03-08-2011 09:27 AM

Hey Fran isn't she close to you? I was thinking about you when I read her post of where she is located at...maybe you & Mona could start a quilt group with her?
I just talked to a couple of ladies at church on Sunday to see if we could get a group together. We are planning to do so on the 1st & 3rd Thurs of each month. I just need to go to the board meeting next Monday and get it approved. I don't see any problems with doing it. Thurs are free days at the church. Nothing going on there on that day. Wish us luck. Maybe I will be able to (finally) get some of my UFO's completed during that time.

I hang out by myself also. But I live in Nevada.

kathyd 03-08-2011 01:22 PM

I'm close but still an hour or more north of you. Sorry.
Did you know there are 2 small quilt shows coming up this weekend. Villa Rose (an assisted living community) in Bethalto, IL is having it's annual quilt show this Saturday 10-3. www.villaroseslc.com
There is also one in Highland IL at Faith Countryside Atrium, 1331 26th St. It is Friday 10-4 and Saturday 9-3.
Did you know there is a great little quilt shop in Troy, IL. It's called Sweet Annies and is on Market St. She just expanded and it's easy to get to.
I've convinced my hubby to come with me this year to the shows! I'm sure he will come home with plenty of ideas for new quilts for me.

Frog90 and all the others looking for a buddy. We could all be your buddy to talk to but to really help you with the sewing and quilting you need a friend close by so look for a bee or a church qroup. You might can put a message in the church newsletter. Good luck on your search.
Also you might look for a reteat and fill in if its not full. another way to find quilter

My FIL lives in New Athens, and whenever we are there we stay in Bellville. Next time we get home, I will try to get in touch first

GGinMcKinney 03-08-2011 04:20 PM

Sorry, too far. I do have a quilting buddy from the little chuch where I quilt on Thursdays. Fun to work out fabrics and patterns with someone who loves to quilt also. She is quite a long time quilter and I am new, but I have learned some things I shared with her. Fun helping another improve our skills. We are in N Texas.
