I think it would be nice if there were a retired community of quilters. All that would be needed it $$$$, sewing machine and goodies with coffee....

Dawn Hendrix 03-08-2011 05:13 AM

I would LOOVE an in person sewing buddy.. Mine live in MI and I am wayyyyy down here in NC but we do chat and work on projects together via the web and cameras.... phones work to.... we catch up when we can and the neatest part is to discuss and work out quilt problems and ideas with someone who knows EXACTLY what I am talking about... LOVE MY MI FRIENDS and yes 2 of them came from this board!

Maia B 03-08-2011 05:41 AM

Hope you find your sewing buddy. I live in Chicago, and my mom is my sewing buddy. I'm drawing her back in after she had a few years of not sewing much. She was my quilting buddy 15-20 years ago too.

suekenyon 03-08-2011 06:15 AM

Ask some of your local fabric stores for names of local quilt guilds. I think you could find some willing ladies to help you.

Frog 90, When I moved, newly retired, I started quilting as a way to meet people. I took a beginner class (8 weeks), then was asked to join our local guild. Many quilt shops have "free sew" days or "quilt till you wilt" days or nights that are great opportunities to meet new people with similar interests. I had to force myself to talk w/people, ask questions like how long they've been quilting etc. Now I have lots of quilting buddies that I can call to go shopping, ask about fabric colors, swap fabrics, tools etc.

If you were in Montana I'd invite you to join us for free sew Wednesday or our next guild meeting.

I hope you find a buddy soon.

Marie M.

ladydi64 03-08-2011 07:53 AM

I have quilting buddies, all of you guys.

Abby'smom 03-08-2011 07:58 AM

hope you find one -- it's great -- I found mine here and we email most days and exchange pictures and just chat -- and we get together since she lives only a few miles away -- good luck

mhansen6 03-08-2011 08:00 AM

I am in Oregon or I would also sew with you. BTW I am jelous that you are retired. I still have at least a decade before I can say those wonderful words.

BJ SewKkrazzy 03-08-2011 08:26 AM

I think Idaho is too far away also!!! But hey, that's why we are on this list...Sane quilters are easier to find in any one area...but being a Crazy Quilter, I rarely find anyone in my area...I know of one in Utah and a couple in Colorado...

Love your pics !! I have done some crazy patch, I enjoy it . No points or seam to match exactly & the embellishments are only restricted by your imagination.
