looking for suggestions please
http://studioefabrics.net/php/catalog/fabricshop.php?a=fs&Category=233&file=3&pass=1
https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/outofstock/41976/moda-fabrics/chloes-closet/30s-playtime-2015-fat-quarter-bundle I am going to start my 2nd double wedding ring quilt soon. The first one I did was traditional white background, but I want to do this one different I have seen pictures of DWR with dark blue backing and I think that is what I want to do for this one Unfortunately, the pictures that I have seen used fabrics that are no longer available.... so I can't copy :) The folks on this board are always very helpful, so I thought I would ask for some of your ideas. I put links on the fabrics that I am thinking about using. The darker blue fabric from the StudioE Shadow Weave line for the back ground I have some Chloe's Closet 30's playtime repro fabric I thought I could use for the rings (I have a ton of this bought) What do you guys think? Any suggestions on the fabric? Maybe one of you have made a DWR like this and can share a picture??? please :) Thanks |
I don't know how dark the blue is but blue or grey would be a nice change.

I think a dark blue would be very pretty!

I think it would be wonderful. Did a search on pinterest for dark colored DW's there were quite a few

I have always thought the 30s fabrics look awful on bright white, although it's often done. Seems too harsh to me. I've used unbleached muslin, which is better, but then they can get lost if the fabric background is very light. A dark color like slate blue would be the perfect solution.

I agree- I think that will be nice!

I don't like the idea with black on 30s. That seems too harsh, particularly the white-based 30s. You can use any of the more intense background colors from your 30s. Blue would look nice.

thank you for your thoughts.. and SuziSew thank you for the link. I didn't see those pictures!

oh, I like the idea of a dark blue background--how about using pastels and shirtings for the rings?
|
Maybe a pale gray background or pearl gray?
