That is beautiful...wow...that is so breathtaking...I am hoping that someday I can make a Quilt like that.

But, you can make this quilt, Beginnerquilter! The very first quilt I ever made was a log cabin, but that was a long time ago. I work mostly w/ scraps -- I find they're much more forgiving of my shortcomings when it comes time to put the whole thing together!! Paper piecing really does make for some spectacular looking quilts. Have you tried that yet?

Ooooo - I want it! It's just gorgeous!! I'm off to my sewing room to stroke some fabric :D

I haven't done any type of Quilting at all...the only thing that I have done was hand quilt on a baby quilt but that was it.

Why not give it a try? The log cabin is an excellent pattern to learn on --- lots and lots of seams, so you'll have that 1/4" down pat by the time you finish your first lap quilt. And, if you use bits and pieces, you won't feel so bad like you've dipped into your "good" stash of fabric.

I do need to make one but it can't be any smaller than 12 x 12 or 24 x 24 and I need something easy to start out with. I do have some material to start out with but I need to Iron it first too.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who took the easy route or pattern for her first quilt! Mine was a Lone Star! I have learned to think a little before I jump these days!

Not knowing your level of machine quilting I love the idea of the feathers, too. For me the size of the quilt and complexity would dictate if I'd tackle it myself or send it off. So far all of my quilts have been quilted by me, but I stick to smaller ones. Anything larger than a twin, I think or with feathers would probably go off to a long-arm quilter.

Wonderful quilt top by the way!

Dunster you do Beautiful work I've been looking at all of them but on this one the little squares did you cut them that small and then sew them together. I'm new at this I thought I would ask.

Beautiful quilt, and lots of work. I don't have any words of wisdom about quilting the top. But a flower design would be very pretty on this top. Johnnie
