Sorry Quilt E I am picture challenged. My DIL does them for me. It is very simple though, think 4 prairie points facing inward to reform a square. You can use prairie points or sew the triangles in the same shape. The 4 triangle pieces are laid and pinned over the peek-a-boo block (they should make the same size square as the square you are covering) and the triangles/block are sewn into the quilt or sashing etc. Since the triangle seam allowance is pressed outward to match the block edges, the triangles seem to stay closed quite well. When the quilt is completed, the triangles are free moving and the little person peeks under them to see the surprise. Clear as mud right?

I couldn't find a link for the one I have made. I taught it from a pattern. There appears to be some variation on the idea. The pattern I used is called Peek-a-boo Twist from Vanilla House paterns. There is a tutorial if you will search on the name. This oneis a bit different from the Twist. Just search on Peek-a-boo block and you will find it.

It appear from the posting above that the one in the magazine is not the same as the Twist.

Yup ... clear as mud and somewhat what I was thinking.

Sooooooo ... the gist of it is, you do 4 Prairie Points, which perfectly match together when sewn in place. From a distance it looks like a QST (if you use different fabrics) ... and then you can lift them to see whatever is inside.

Looks to me like it'd be a FUN addition to any kids blanket .... something to fiddle with and something to investigate.
And too, wouldn't they be perfect here and there on an I Spy?

Great idea .... and I CAN figure it out from there ..... now that I have a mind's eye to it! :)
THANKS Tartan! :)

Then perhaps you'd show us your paper version of the cathedral window type?
Please and Thanks!
