Loosen Q-Snap Clips ?
 

I recently got another 11" square Q-snap frame (fits in a backpack for quilting on planes) and the clips are UNBELIEVABLY tight. So tight I am nervous about clamping onto quilted areas, even with a guardian hankie in between.

I am pretty sure I remember something about using a hair dryer or hot water or something to loosen them - from waaay back. There is NOTHING on the YarnTree site except ordering info.

Does anybody remember, or have you done this?

Unfortunately the clips themselves are SO tight that I am concerned about damage.

Not familiar with these, but if they are plastic you should be able to soften them up using a hair dryer or sitting them in the sun or hot water. Perhaps if you clip them on the frame to sit in the warmth of the sun it might help more.

Wait - you quilt on a plane?? How the heck do you do that? Space is so tight!

That's why you fly first class! More room and more comfort. Worth every cent to get to where you are going and not be annoyed the whole time.

I do binding on the planes. I use those snap hair clips to hold the binding in place so I can get a lot done.

I do an aisle seat, small quilts and the 11" frame. Works fine. I sure wouldn't bring a queen size on a plane, but my silly little pink flamingos will be just fine. I don't fly first class unless I get lucky.

Hand applique is also gret on planes, but you might get funny looks when you get off the plane with toothpicks stuck in your shirt buttonholes. Ask me how I know...

The one thing I always make sure of is to put ribbon through the bows of my scissors so I can hang them around my neck and not loose them.
