Sorry about the quilt, but there is still hope. My son is in Boston, MA in college and I sent him a shirt that was supposed to arrive on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. He just got in on Friday. I thought that the hurricane had swallowed it up for sure, but it got there safely 3 days late.

I better go knock on my wood table lol Best wishes to your SIL. Don't give up too soon. I recently made some placemats to my son in CA. Three wks. later they still hadn't arrived. Was nearly another wk. and I got the pkg. back. Somewhere along the line the postal sticker w/ the address on came off. My return one stayed on and that's how it came back. From now on the address will be written on the pkg. itself. Don't give up. The conditions that it went thru just messed things up. We hope. God bless you and your sister. Hope she recovers soon. |
Everyone tells me I am nuts for doing this, but whenever I mail quilts I always insure them for at least $300. I have had the good luck of nothing happening to them, but I always worry about them and the insurance gives me minimal piece of mind for all the work, time, and expense I have put into them. I sure do hope they find the quilt. What a wonderful thing to give when someone has cancer.

Did you send it parcel post or priority? I sent one from MT to TN in December to a friend who was retiring I thought it was lost...5 1/2 weeks later it arrived...don't give up hope it still may show up. Next time I will send priority w/tracking.
FYI, as for insurance if you have to make a claim you have to have receipts showing the cost. So you'd have to have receipts for the fabric, batting etc. but you don't get anything for the time you spent making the quilt. Keep us posted. |
Prayers hoping they find it!!!
|
I bet with that storm it got sent to a safer place and they just haven't come across the pkg yet. Those storms hold a lot up. I'll pray they find it for you. Good Luck. Sue

I am SO sorry that happened...but keep the faith! It just might turn up!

Yeah, back where it belongs.
|
I always pay the few cents ($.70 here) extra to get a tracking # on every package. I am not good at 'having faith' in the post office, I guess.
|
I'm so glad that it showed up. Guess the weather slowed it down some. Sometimes things just take a little longer. It's nice to have a happy ending. I'll bet she loves the quilt. Did you take a picture of it? Can you post one here?
|
Did it have a return address on it? If the quilt came loose from the box, did the quilt have any kind of label to say where the quilt was going too? Did you have insurance or any kind of tracking information on the box? I would call the post office where you mailed it from, give them the address where it was going to, and a detail description of the item you have lost. If it was a small post office, check and see where they ship it to, and call them yourself) They should know where the item would be shipped from (location to location) and something that big should be something they can find. I work for USPS in Florida, packages bust open, and if you do not know what box they came out of, you can't send it on, not unless you have something on the item to let us know. I do hope you find your lost quilt. I myself would be sick if I found one loose in the mail and could not get it to it's destination. or back to the sender. Did the mailman deliver it and someone else could have gotten the box?

Hope it will show up. So sorry to here about that.
|
Don't give up on it yet. If it was not safe to ship it to MD due to the hurricane, it is more than likely sitting some where waiting to be shipped out to MD. Mail gets backed up if it can't go anywhere, and is probably stuck somewhere. It will get there...
|
So happy that it finally showed up !!!
|
My lost quilt is on lost quilt.com try it, you never know.
|
Oh, what a terrible thing to happen to you, and at such a bad time in her life. I hope the quilt is found - and soon! Packages don't just disappear (unless they're 'disappeared') Perhaps it went to another town of the same name. Happened to me one time on an airline - they sent our bags to Burlington, MA, instead of Burlington, VT. I'm still trying to figure out how they confused VT with MA, but we did eventually get our bags. Your tracking number is bound to show up sooner or later. Just keep on top of them and don't let them stop looking for it!

I would keep knocking on UPS door until until you get an answer. I really think it will show up. Good luck

WONDERFUL !!!! Now the quilt has its own story to tell before it reached its home.

If you have your UPS receipt it is insured for up to $100 if you did not buy extra insurance; once it is out of your hands you are not liable - yes the quilt may be gone - but they owe you at least that initial $100 for insurance purposes... look into it - worth a try at least - best of luck.....

Excellent!!!

YAY! Glad it is found! You might want to 'edit' your thread title. LOL So many of us don't read all the pages on each thread.
When I send any kind of package, I always make sure I put the address somewhere inside the box in case the label comes off. |
Oh Dear. Hope it get's found.
