Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses

Has anyone made the Lucy Boston Patchwork of the crosses quilt? Would appreciate a source for the larger blocks in kits or paper pieces.

thanks so much!

I was planning on taking the class but the quilt store closed. I think there is a book for using Inklingo otherwise PP is the way to go.

Yes, there is a book ....and it is authored by Linda frank, designer/owner of inklingo, check Amazon for best price...I personally prefer epp....I bought the epp shapes, both paper and acrylic ( for cutting fabric) from paperpieces.com.......not affiliated, just like their products. Have done one....block, that is.....trying to finish another hand work project before I dive into that one......go to Pinterest for inspiration........

I have Inklingo but find the instructions how to use it confusing. Getting it open on the computer takes jumping through hoops. I quit using it for that reason.

The book I have is The Patchworks of Lucy Boston written by Diana Boston. There is a Lucy Boston facebook group and everything you want to know about the pattern can be found there.

Thank you for asking this question - I had never seen this quilt before, and now it's on my To Do list. :)

Looking at it, I would definitely paper piece it. It uses 1" honeycombs and 1" squares, both of which you can get from PaperPieces.com. The instructions on this page are clear enough that I don't think I need any further instructions, but I might get her daughter-in-law's book, just to see her other quilts. From the reviews, it sounds interesting!

You might consider seeing if there is a punch for that shape. I know there are hexagon and square ones.

I did a modified version and left off the last row and hence had some large squares mixed in....I loved it and want to make another (but different) quite with that shape!

If you have an Accuquilt die machine you can get a die made in shapes you want. The shapes are small so you can get several sizes of each shape on one die. Many get the size for paper and fabric on one die.
