I would like to make a cover for my Brothers Quattro6000D Embroidery machine but haven’t found a pattern large enough. Has anyone got any ideas? I would like for it to somehow cover it with the embroidery unit attached.

vivientan 09-02-2010 01:18 AM

Saw this interesting and easy to sew pattern at the Moda Bake Shop:

http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/11/...-cover-up.html

You might need to measure your machine and improvise the pattern to fit yours.

I made one for my embroidery machine by sewing first a cover out of cheap muslin. Ajusted and resewing until it fited, then cut it apart and so I had a pattern.

That cover is so cute

SueDor 09-02-2010 02:17 AM

If I were to make a cover, it wouldn't have looked that good.

loishe 09-02-2010 02:26 AM

Cover is so neat! I know mine would not look that good! :)

Here's the one I made for my machine. I just measured the height, width, and length of the machine, the width across the top, and the length from the bottom of one side, across the top and the length down the other side. Then I drafted my own pattern on some brown paper. For each piece I cut out the fabric, batting, and lining (pink check), put them together, did some FMQ, and then sewed with wrong sides together. Then sewed some bias binding on all seams. Easy-peasey :!:

That cover is so cute. Love it. wished I had covered my Designer one to keep it nice and clean but there it sits colecting dust but since it is always out and ready to use, It is very handy.

purplefiend 09-02-2010 12:06 PM

I was thinking that too. rofl

:-D :-D :-D Mine is made in 2 parts. One part fits over the embroidery arm and the other part goes over the machine. It almost looks like a truck with out tires.   The one on the Brother machine has pockets on the ends and the embroidery machine is on the right side with the yellow thing that has a jar embroidered on it. The jar has buttons in it and yes the buttons are real ones. Huggies, Fay

It's on the right side, the one wiht the yellow thing that has a jar embroidsered on it

I want to make one for my 6600 where I don't have to lower the thread thing each time. Because I always forget to put it back up when I start sewing. Has anyone made one like that?

np3 09-02-2010 02:20 PM

Love the shoe! I made a new cover for my sewing machine. I took a long time to decide on the pattern and the fabric. A month after I made it, I bought a new machine, and of course it doesn't fit. And the fabric is discontinued.

That's very cute and it doesn't sound too difficult. Think I will give it a go this weekend. Thanks!

This is such a cute and cheerful pattern in your sewing room!

I actually signed up for a sewing machine cover class in my LQS. With all your wonderful ideas, I think I can give that class a miss! :-)

DeniseP 09-03-2010 07:05 AM

I love your cover, granny, so much nicer than the old tablecloth that covers my embroidery machine.

Hello Granny
Love your machine cover, it's cute
Here is mine, made in two parts for Brother Innov-is 4000D recently made from bag pattern
I made original cover and underskirt, then found that the embroidery unit caught up the with skirt when attached because of the height difference on bench, so made another piece and herringbone stitched two skirt pieces together, cross-hatched in wrong direction of add-on piece

Ada Shiela 09-03-2010 03:29 PM

Love your fabric Barb, at first I thought it was liquorice allsorts :D

Hello Quilter 711, love your avatar of pussycat playing the accordian - not sure which two people you're talking about but I'm sure your comments are appreciated - we all had to learn at the beginning and practise will make perfect (almost, we hope) one day - please keep going and show us your work

Hahaha! I love licorice all-sorts, especially the pink and black ones.

I just happened upon the fabric at a local fabric store - matched the periwinkle blue of the walls of my sewing room.

That is so adorable! You obviously put a lot of time into that. I have been thinking of making a cover for my machines, but suddenly realized that the cover would be off most of the time, due to using the machine. I usually have a couple machines at a time going. I can embroider while I am either working on another part of the same project or else a different project on the machine sitting beside it.

steelecg 09-04-2010 05:06 AM

very cute

Dortha 09-04-2010 05:16 AM

When I had trouble with my cat wanting to sleep in the open area of my sewing machine, I needed a fast fix. I took a pillow case, sewed up the open end,cut out a long side, added elastic to that and slipped it over my machine. No more cat naps !!

LindaR 09-04-2010 05:54 AM

I saw a pattern somewhere that had the extension for the embroidery unit....can you google patterns and maybe come up with something...

creames 09-04-2010 06:36 AM

I just took a 45" square piece of fabric done a rolled hem around it and have appliqued cute stuff on it. I just drape it over the machine with embroidery unit on or off. Sorry on the road so don't have a pic.

cbuchanan 09-04-2010 07:14 AM

That is adorable. You should sell them on Etsy!!! Folks would love it. Very artistic.

gramquilter2 09-04-2010 08:36 AM

Love all of the machine covers that have been shared. Now I need to get busy and make 5!!!

Yarn or Fabric 09-04-2010 09:02 AM

I'm not sure if you found it or not but just in case.
Here is one specifically for an embroidery machine. It is the one I am planning to make for my 4500d.
http://www.zimbio.com/Sewing/article...ozy+Cozy+Queen

I have a slew of tutorial links for machine covers on my website so if this one doesn't grab your eye, maybe one of the others will?
