I do, too.

Someone put a tutorial in that section, with pictures, check that also. When I want to learn something new I read as much about it as I can. The tutorial is on this quilt site. I hand sew mine on, I still can.

Thanks for all the great tuts. Will try some new techniques next time I bind.

I sew my binding to the back of the quilt first, then machine stitch it down on the front. I use either a straight stitch or a decorative stitch. My Pfaff has many to choose from. I also find it easier to do the straight stitch since I leave my walking foot down. That really helps.
Best to you, and please share photos of your finished items! :)

I sew all my bindings by machine. After I get the initial sew it down done, I flip the quilt, press the binding to the back, then pin the binding so the pins are running in the ditch where the binding is on the front. Then I SITD from the front, pulling the pins as I go.

When I have the patience, I use a deco stitch, but I can't use the walking foot on my Pfaff with deco stitches, so I find I struggle with keeping the pattern moving consistently.

I fonund it enoumously helpful when stiching a binding to use a specialty foot. I use the stitch in the ditch foot. It changed everything. I still use heat and bond light to position it and hold it instead of pins.

You will also find a bunch of topics on this and with this in them if you use the search link at the top. I LOVE TO MACHINE BIND!!! I HATE hand binding. Grrr

I would definitely suggest using a walking foot. Especially until you get used to it.
