Are there any special techniques for machine sewing the binding onto the quilt? I'm not talking about the initial sewing TO the binding; I'm talking about once that is on and you have to sew it down to the backing. I have peripheral neuropathy in my fingers and have no feeling in my fingertips. I am having a terrible time doing it by hand. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I like to sew it on with a decorative stitch. Somehow, it hides the fact that my lines aren't always straight. Especially if it's a "vine" pattern, lol! :D

I think that would be very pretty. Makes me want to do up some samples from my Pfaff . It has a lot of designs.

I like to sew it to the back first and then do the machine stitching on the top - that way it lines up with the top binding correctly. Somehow I never can line it up straight when doing it the other way and then the machine stitching ruins the look of the top

I machine stitch my binding with invisible YLI thread & use a stitch on my Viking Rose that looks like hand stitching. It stitches 3-4 sitches, nip to the left, stitches 3-4 stitches, nip to the right, & so on. I pin the binding before stitching with very thin pins that you can actually stitch over.

Thank you, I will try that stitch first.

Thanks for the idea. I have a Janome that does the quilt stitch with the invisible thread. I have a couple quilts that need binding, think I'll experiment with it.

I use a Zig-Zag with matching thread.... turns out very nice everytime..

Good tute. Wish I had tried it with the wider width as she suggested for a newbie
