I don't have that machine but I have an old singer that did that once and I took the foot pedal apart and cleaned it out and oiled it and it works just fine. It had a lot of lint in it just like you get in your sewing machine.

I have a janome sr2100 i bought in 1985. As the controller (foot pedal)was over thirty years old (mfg 1984), my husband checked out the internal parts and found that the paper capacitor (condenser) 0.05 uf/250V was very leaky (short circuit) and replaced it with a more modern standard part (0.047 uf/630V polyester). This fixed the problem. i don't quilt but I dressmake but i thought my message would be useful to other users

there is probably a contact that is stuck.

I've had 4 Janome's and the only one with a problem is my 760 Gem. It started doing it at a retreat last year. I need to take it to my dealer and have them work on the foot. I've tried cleaning it but still happens. Not all the time though.
