Hi, beginning of this year I bought a Janome DC2010 and have been happy with it so far. What it started doing, though, first very sporadically with weeks in between, now more often, is that after I let go of the foot pedal it will continue sewing and I have to turn the machine off in order to make it stop. Has that ever happened to anyone and was the problem the foot pedal? I realize I have to talk to the dealer about this, but would like to have an idea what this might be before I turn the machine in.

Thanks!

Have you looked under the foot pedal to see if you have something thats keeping it ingaged

I've had the same problem with Janome foot pedals. Scary, right?! Ghost sewer! My dealer replaced the foot pedal the first time, but now they'll make me buy one. I think it's about $65. Owie. It must be a common thing. Maybe they'll make the foot pedals better so we don't have to replace them each year. Keep your fingers out of the way!

I don't believe this, this has been going on and the problem hasn't been fixed? I bought the Janome believing they had a good reputation. I had no idea about the foot pedal issue. Is that an issue with other manufacturers also?

I'm wondering if it is possible to cut the cord of the Janome pedal, keeping the upper part that plugs into the machine, cutting the cord of my old machine's pedal, using the lower part with the pedal and connecting the wires of the two pieces? Has anyone ever tried that? Just in case I don't get a free replacement.

Be careful messing with the pedal or any part of the machine as that could
void your warranty. Why don't you take your machine back to the dealer and
ask them to look at it? It shouldn't cost anything since you just bought it.

I can't believe you are talking about this, my 2010 is doing that too! I just turn it off and turn it on again, sometimes it stops but sometimes it dosen't. I was so shocked the first time it happened. Never thought about complaining about it. I think I will contact Jamone diret.

It has happened to me also with a 2005 machine. I am reminded of a gas pedal in an automobile that is stuck. Even when you take your foot off, the machine is still going. My local sewing machine store fixed the problem. I don't know how, but I did get my same pedal back a few days after I dropped it off for service. It didn't cost anything. Trust the machine warranty and authorized dealers.

I wouldn't cut cords and try to 'jerry rig' something together.
Let us know how it pans out for you!

Are you sure you haven't accidently pushed your foot pedal under the edge of something that is pressing it down just a tiny bit? That is what was going on with mine...it was just far enough under the edge of the table support that it was holding it down a wee bit. Took me several episodes of it happening to figure out what was going on.
