I just bought a magnetic pin bowl yesterday and when I went to place it next to my machine, I thought the same thing. So here is an article I found that relieves some of my worry: http://www.fashion-incubator.com/arc...ewing-machine/
However, I will still keep my pins on the side of my machine away from the motor housing - just to be safe!

Here's the thing if they were bad for the machines then you wouldn't find the expensive emb/sewing machines with magnetic hoops that actually do hook onto the machine and cause no problems. Its safe.

I have one of them, but don't use it by my machine. However, I do have one of those small magnetic seam guides, would that interfere with my Pfaff 4.0? Have always wondered about using it on my newer machine.

I use mine on my Viking Diamond Deluxe without any problems. Like I said you can use magnetic hoops and if you've ever seen one, those are some strong magnets that hold the fabric down.
