When you use sand, do you put it in something before you cover it with fabric? Does it leak out after awhile? Or do you put a layer of fiberfill over the sand?

I cut up foam pieces and scrap batting to stuff my pin cushions.

That would be so awesome since I collect teapots. Please spread the word if you find it. thanks

Thanks for the pics. I've also seen a mini-pincushion made with napkin rings as the base.

I use rice in mine and it works great. Got the pattern from TipNut.

I use wool in my pin cushions.

I use batting pieces and ground corn cobs together. The corn cobs make the bottom flat and are available in pet supply stores. Have also stuffed one or two with thread pieces accumulated from trimming threads.

I use rice. Its heavy also. No problem with rust so far

When I find a rusting needle I run it back and forth through an S.O.S. pad. I find that makes it smooth again so I can still use it without the rust.
