that's putting your thinking cap on! Now you can market those to other quilters! There's a place that will make custom templates (can't remember the name, though) & sell them yourself. Put me on the list of wanting one!

I love it.. Are you gonna sell some? How did you cut your acrylic?

Way to go. Great idea.

I've only taken 1 class way back when & the Dresden Plate block in the sampler was made using cardboard templates. I have made other templates from a thin lucite.

How did you know the size to cut it. I wanted to make Nancy Zieman's Dresden Holiday wall Quilt but it uses her Trace 'n quilt templates they sell for around $18.00 a little much to make one quilt, so I was thinking if I could figure out the dimentions of the blades I could have my DH cut one for me. I think that the blades are 14-1/4 long but how do you figure the top and bottom dimentions.

Good idea! I wonder... could use a scroll saw to cut a curved template?

Also, an idea to put the marks on... you could use a clear (acetate?) sheet that goes through your printer. Just add the measurements on via computer, print it out and glue it on. It would come out very neat and tidy, permanent, with no smearing.

A beautiful block, BTW.

Wonderful! I like what you have done! My husband went to Lowe's and bought a piece of sheet acrylic to make long arm templates from..great way to make your own..You may have started yourself in a new business!! Great Job!!!

Many of the templates you can find on line. If you have the basic (as you do), it can be easy. Working on one myself and looking at the Dresden just gave me an idea. Sometimes they have just been looking back at you the whole time. Love the idea of the 12 blade. Thanks for sharing.
