Ohio star. It was the first quilt I ever made and I made it for my darling husband. He loves it. I made it out of flannelette as well.

I recently made a Double Irish Chain lap quilt for my brother. It was pretty easy, and he loved it! It is below. I used Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day Irish Chain Book and chose the seminole border. There are also instructions for the regular border.

I made an oversize lap quilt for DH last year. It is a log cabin in the sunshine and shadows layout. I used Civil War reproduction fabrics for the darks, and various shirting plaids and stripes for the lights. For the backing, I used 10" squares of shirting fabrics with a few CW scraps I had left. Most of the shirting fabrics came from recycled shirts. I quilted it myself with diagonal lines using a walking foot.

DH keeps it draped across the guest chair in his study and won't use it.

One of the tube quilting patterns from Missouri Star Quilt Co. The owner of my LQS made one out of "manly" fabrics and it was terrific. Very fun to make, I made one for my mother in laws 90th birthday and it was fun and easy. Good luck!

here's a quilt that I use quit a bit when I need something fast.

it looks much harder then it is. The main blocks is the focus fabric so I pick what ever fabric print that is needed like for a baby, man or woman. Then simple cut the strips for the sashing in fabric that compliments the focus print. As far as the side triangles, they are very easy to figure out. If your focus blocks are 6" blocks and you use the 3" sashing, I cut 11" blocks which I cut on the diagonal. This give you a size a little bit bigger then needed but if you have problems with points as I do sometimes. This makes it so you don't have to worry about all that. It's like adding an extra outer border without having to cut it and you have a quilt with all the points in tack.
