A while back, several people commented that they were planning to attend the Quilt Show at the Hampton Convention Center, in Virginia. It was noted that some of us who plan to attend should try to have a meeting place to put some "faces" with "names" on this Board. Please respond to this topic if you are planning to attend. The dates are February 25-28th. Admission is $12.00. It would be great to personally meet some of you.

Great to hear from you. Wow--coming all the way from OK? Now for an attempt to try to "meet." My husband and I plan to be there on Thursday and Friday. So, it will just be a matter of setting up a day, place, and time to meet. I mentioned in an earlier post that we could do it at the top of the stairs (or bottom). As you know, it is a pretty big place. Also, I could give you a cell phone number and contact me once you are there. Sue

I am currently planning on attending on Saturday the 27, as I do every year....
I can be convinced to change ( I have plenty of time to change my Request off at work!!!)

Thought I would bump this up, now that we are getting a bit closer to the show dates...I am leaning on Friday, gonna cancel my Saturday request at work to a Friday....

Glad to hear from you. My husband and I are both planning to be there on Friday and Saturday. So, again, we need to decide the best place to meet on Friday morning. We only live about 17 miles away and usually get there early. We did not register early this year so we will be standing in line, I guess. However, the line does move quickly. Please let me know, and any other persons that are planning to attend, where you would like to meet. Sue

well i drive down from Colonial heights. a little over an hour....will leave probably before 9.... a coffee break around 11?? top of the stairs???

To: Dawn, aliaslaceygreen and varacefan, and anyone else who is interested. Good suggestion--meet at top of stairs for an 11 AM break on Friday of the Quilt Show. You can PM me and I will give you my cell phone in case there is a problem connecting. My picture is on my Avatar--totally white hair. It will be so neat meeting some of the Board members.

All goes well and no one gets more snow or bad weather I hope to ride along with Dawn to this one. She called me this morning and we're planning on Friday for the show! Woohoo!

I so would like to go, but I'm 3 1/2 hours out from there and I don't travel well so I'm going to put it on the agenda for next year and stay the weekend. I'm sure it will be great fun for all. I'll be there in spirit this year anyway.

hahaha can ya tell I am just a little excited!

I would like to enter a quilt in a show (I'm in PA) but I don;t know how to go about doing it. I have a couple of smaller quilts (wallhanging - but I never but any pocket in the back because the hanger was a top hanger I slid it into) - anyway, can anyone give me information how to go about entering my quilts???? and also how to go about adding a pocket for hanging (on the back of an 'already made quilt), if it is necessary ?????? Thanx.

Thanks again for another "bump" Trish. There are eight of us that hope to meet at 11 on Friday. Weatherwise, they say there may be snow flurries on Thursday but it is supposed to be on the cool side both days. How exciting to be able to meet gals on the Board. Glad you are so organized with a "list." See you all on Friday.

I have been tothis show, wish I could this year...came home in a snow storm and they flew us all over the east coat to get to Michigan. LOL fun time tho

I have a son in Newport News so that quilt show was a must, It was the year before they built the new stadium...you will have a great time and sure hope you run into some nice weather...

Well I am undecided now.... Mimisharon is able to come with me.. it is 3 hrs each way and I am not so sure I will make it now...

seriously the 'list' is to keep me from wildly and randomly handing over my credit card to every person selling something pretty!!!

Just a note to let you know that my husband and I attended the Quilt Show today but, of course, could not "take in" everything. However, we did make note of one thing. If, as you face the Convention Center, you come in the far left doors, there are actually two stairways up to the second floor--one on the right and one on the left.

If you come in the more center doors, there will be an escalator to your left and that is probably the best place for us to meet: At the top of the escalator. That is where the Brunch is served. Of course, we do have cell phones and some numbers so please call if there is any confusion.

So, let's say we will meet at the top of the escalator stairway at 11:00 AM tomorrow. Can hardly wait. Hugs. Sue

Please let me know how the quilt show competition is. Thanx. I wanted to enter 2 of my quilts (smaller sized) but I never did it before and was dragging my feet and just didn't get to enter my quilts. :roll:

It was a great quilt show with lots and lots of quilts. What kind of quilt were you going to enter? Hopefully you can do it next year. Four of us did manage to meet and it was great to put faces with names. Hopefully I can post a picture if I can get it over to my "picture" sight.

It was great meeting you all too!!! I behaved myself very much...almost too much, lol.... a book a bunch of thread and one lovely piece of batik!!!
I will get the MANY photos I took up onto my site over the weekend of the quilts at the show and let you all know...

Lots of beautiful quilts there. Enjoyed the day with DM,DH, and DGD. DH said the first and last quilt show. We will see about that, I bet he goes again. Over all he thought it was pretty neat.

Sorry I didn't get to meet everyone yesterday.

I was nice meeting other quilters on the board. We need to plan to meet every year.

hmm...maybe I'm sicker than I thought...LOL.

Actually was disappointed that Accuquilt didn't have a booth. Was planning to get some new dies for my studio machine. oh well...their loss.
