When I had the rug business, I ordered from them. They were most accommodating and helpful.

I raise my hand, I am guilty of using them a lot. I love their material and their service. Amazing place, people and prices.

The tax ID is for COLLECTING sales tax on each sale and reporting your sales to the govt. You must be registered as a legit retail business.

Our quilting group uses the wholesale side of Marshall's. It has great prices, fabric is good and the people are very helpful. No tax number needed.

You CAN get wholesale prices for buying bulk, and still pay legal taxes. Nothing wrong with that.

You don't have to pay sales tax if you use an Tax ID when you make a purchase for a business. I use to have a Tax ID. I was responsible for the tax. I paid quarterly. After hiring a tax consultant it was much easier to pay the tax on each purchase and not have large cash output every four months. It was better for my small business as DH paid in enough tax to cover it at his work. I still had to file but didn't owe any tax as it had been paid. End of the year filings is when I used deductions. Lots of ins and outs with the tax system. All confusing and makes no sense. A tax consultant saved me many tedious paperwork hours and many dollars.

I had to report the sales tax I received on purchases to the state.
