Has anyone ordered from them on the wholesale side of the business without having a business or tax number? Prices are better buying by the bolt.

You can't/shouldn't do this. Usually you have to fill out paperwork that they keep on file in case they are audited by the IRS.

If I am wrong, and those of you PM'ing have a better idea, can you share it with the rest of us?

Odd you don't know why you fill out the paperwork. The wholesaler either has to report tax paid or have tax ID number on every purchase. If you don't have a tax ID you pay tax. The paperwork you do is if you use a tax ID. I pay tax so I don't have paperwork to do . I buy wholesale from other places besides Marshall's. Online is full of wholesales. Oh, and my pm was to give the info how to contact a rep.

You really think Marshall's or other wholesalers that sell to the public for decades are doing something wrong all these years? A tax id means you are responsible for your own tax bill not the wholesaler you bought from. Marshall's doesn't mind selling small amounts at wholesale prices to the public. That is a benefit for many small groups and individuals. Some wholesalers have a min. amount to buy as small orders cost them more money in the long run.

Marshalls does not require you to have a tax ID number. But, if you don't have one, you pay tax. If you can provide a number, you don't. Makes no difference to Marshalls.

Always good to ask for wholesale prices because some, like Marshalls, give you the price for quantity and charge sales tax and others like Choice, require a tax ID number to even get prices.

Recently purchased 2 hobbs 80/20 batting rolls 96" by 30 yards for $210 + shipping ($40). I have not put in any information anywhere on their site to say I am a commercial customer. Quilt batting is good quality; I have not found a better price for it.

The service at Marshalls Dry Good is excellent. One time, after I ordered, I called to ask them to delay a shipment to me because a family emergency required me to be away from home. I believe the person I spoke to was one of the owners, and he couldn't have been more gracious about it.

I love the people there. They have always been good to me. I visit as often as I can.
