I love mine! It really is easier on the wrist.

craftybear 02-27-2010 11:14 PM

Hi,

I never heard of that one???

Prism99 02-27-2010 11:18 PM

Here's the website with a picture of it:

If you check out their videos, you can see it demonstrated online.

I love mine. Easy on the wrist and hand.

Ninnie 02-28-2010 02:51 AM

I have one. when you order, they will send you a dvd showing the correct way to use. It is great!

charvan 02-28-2010 09:02 AM

This is the best on the market. You will LOVE it. I have severe carpal tunnel and have not had one bit of pain while using it-plan on buying a backup in Paducah.

wichypoo 02-28-2010 09:11 AM

I was looking at this cutter and wondered if it would ease up the strain on the my arthritis in my right hand?

It's worth a try. It is so comfortable to use; conforms to your hand; I can cut all I need at once (then the back goes out)!!! Wish Martelli made something for bad backs.

I too have arthritis and would like to get one. Unfortunately I have to wait until my husband gets back to work. I would also like to get the mat and slit ruler too. But they are expensive!!

littlehud 02-28-2010 02:47 PM

This sounds like it would be worth a whorl. I have arthritis and it may make cutting easier.

Wow, what great stuff they have. Too bad I already have a bazillion cutters, rulers, templates and cutting mats.

sewcrazygirl 02-28-2010 05:09 PM

This cutter is supposed to be unique to any other cutter, I also have olfas and fiskars.

I can tell by the video how unique and great it is. Really impressive, as is the "sticky" black ruler and the 2-sided/colored cutting mat. I really like all that stuff. I have to stick with what I already have for now, but I'm glad to know about the Martelli goodies.

CajunQuilter2 02-28-2010 05:17 PM

I have the mat, ruler, and the rotary cutter for both right and left hand. It was not cheap but I saved my money for a year to buy it at the Houston quilt show and have not regretted it one teeny tiny bit. :-) I love it all.

Way to go, Myrna! I love the fact that products continue to evolve and improve for us, but I hate the fact that it makes much of what I own obsolete. Now I want a long-arm machine and I know just the one I want; that's definitely a pipe-dream!

Jim's Gem 02-28-2010 07:23 PM

I love mine!!! It is much easier on these bad shoulders of mine!!

fabuchicki 02-28-2010 07:50 PM

Their customer service was good to me.

How much do they run?

The mat, ruler, and 1 cutter hand of your choice ran me $200.00 at the quilt show. But straighter lines and much less frustration is worth every penny.

I want one of these so badly. My right wrist is a mess. It's nice to hear such great praise for this tool. I better start saving up for one!

I have noticed the rotary cutters in the lqs lately. If you are just wanting the cutter check out your lqs. They run abot 25-30 dollars if memory serves me correctly.

vicki75 03-01-2010 06:10 AM

What is the advantage of having both a left and right hand cutter?

I noticed that the 45mm was on sale for $19.99 on the Martelli site - which is better - the 45mm or the 60mm?

Thanks - confused semi beginner quilter

They do... Its the table... I saw it at the quilt show in Des Moines... I think it was about $3000, if I remember correctly, but its on a hydraulic lift, so you can raise and lower it to any height, very nice, very pricey...

So, all I need is the 3 G! When I win the lottery...

The left-handed cutter is oriented to make cutting easy for a left-handed person.

Most quilters use the 45mm the most as it has the most applications. You can cut strips with it, it fits into the slots on a June Tailor quarter cut flexible cutting mat, and it works well for making accurate fine cuts on smaller fabric pieces.

I like the 60mm for adding a little brute strength if I have lots of strips to cut from fabric. It doesn't work as well as the 45mm for the other tasks above.

pflum1 03-02-2010 07:20 AM

You will love the Martelli Rotary cutter as it's easy on the wrist and I get better control on my cuts.

Has anyone used the Martelli binder system? Is it worth the money?

Dkm 03-02-2010 08:50 AM

This sound interesting. Keep us posted on how you like it.

Ragann63 03-02-2010 08:50 AM

It is awesome! I thought it was dumb the first time I tried my mom's, but then to help her out one night I spent the entire night (while she was sleeping) cutting out a 2000+ piece quilt for her. My wrist did not hurt or cramp at all. There is no way I could have done that with a straight rotary. I bought one immediately! Probably one of the best investments in my quilting I have made. There are lots of cute gimmicks - this one actually works!

Dkm 03-02-2010 08:52 AM

Will the ruler work on any mat. Not moving sounds to good to be true. Maybe it has something to do with using both mat and ruler.

quilter64779 03-02-2010 10:03 AM

Yes it will. I have arthritis inboth hands plus carpal tunnel in the left. Without this cutter I couldn't use the normal ones.

sew_lulu 03-02-2010 10:08 AM

I have it and love it. I do have many other but this seems to be the only one I grab.

littleone 03-02-2010 01:22 PM

OK, just watched the video, now I know how to use mine, I was holding it the wrong way. Made it difficult to cut. It has been hanging on my wall for 3 years, time to take the dust off and give it a second chance.

pflum1 03-02-2010 01:27 PM

Someone was asking if the 45 mm or 60 mm cutter was better. It depends on what you want to cut. I use the 45 mm most of the time as I find I can get about curves much better.
I just saw that they will be at the Dallas, TX quilt show next week.

Quiltmaniac 03-02-2010 01:41 PM

I purchased one from Connecting Threads a few years ago and loved it - while it worked! I'm very hard on blades (keep catching the ruler!) so when it got nicked and I tried to replace it, a spring popped out of the cutter and there was no way I could get it back in. I ended up throwing the whole thing away.

If I had known they had a website at the time they may have been able to help me with it.

I may just buy another one now I know!
