I have also decided to make my own Matt's quilt. The a flannel plaid is left over scraps from a previous quilt back, the print is a 2/3 yard flannel print found at Goodwill, the green flannel was also purchased at GW, all 14 yards of it, LOL. The back a butter/tan flannel sheet. Not sure about the batting yet.

looks like it will make a great "Matt's quilt" (I've decided that is the patterns name.) smile. Please be sure and post a picture when you are done. It is really becoming a lot of fun for me seeing all the folks who plan on making it. I just use a flannel sheet and it makes a great wgt for the whole thing. of course both my boys (his brother has one too) like hvy covers. Do you plan on quilting or tying it?

I will machine quilt it. If I did not have so many quilt projects to finish, I would be starting it today.

You said you use craft thread. Would that be the cotton thread you use to crochet dishcloths with? Can you give us a name and where you purchase it at?
Thanks Myra

I missed this the first time around, apparently. Lovely masculine quilt!! I like the design - I can see why several people want to make their own!

I bought a bag of this thread at a yard sale. but here is the info on the band. DFN craft thread ...janlynn.com.. Don't know if JoAnns carries it as I never looked. I have enough in this bag to last a long time. smile. Not the same aswhat they use for dish cloths. Skein looks just like a thicker embroidery thread and package same way. here is a picture.

Here's the link to the original post for Matt's quilt:

Cutting instructions are in post #51. This is what she said: "Here are the measurements I used. The strips were 2 1/2" x 6 1/2 "" the squares 6 1/2 " The border is 10 ". This all with 1/4 " seam. I used 35 solid and 35 strip squares. It covers my double bed from the head to foot with a slight overhang on the sides.

I, too, love your quilt! It's going on my "After Christmas To-Do" list.

Thanks for the info - Cheri
