I made baby quilts for 2 DGDs according to my abilities at the time. Now, I am making their sister's baby quilt. The original quilts had square blocks. I just saw a quilt here on the QB that snowballed the blocks and I like the look even better. Should I make the new quilt with the snowballs or make it like the sisters' quilts with square blocks? The pics are not the actual pattern. The hearts are actually antique embroidered animals and the print is red/white farm animals.

Snow blocks. IMO. The new babby needs its own quilt.
I'd go with the snowball so they'd have 2 different quilts. Who's to say which one is the cutest, they're both nice in their own way.
It's fine to use a different pattern. Every child is unique, so why shouldn't every child's quilt be unique?
I think the snowball would be fine. You should advance your quilts as you learn new techniques. So the quilts are different, so will be the children.
I tell my kids...things don't have to always be the same to be fair...i'm sure older siblings love what you did for them, as new one will!!!
I would go with the snowballs, so there is a little difference between the 2 quilts.
Snowballs for sure!
snowballs..one of my faves!
Snowballs. Please share when finished. I have a quilt made from embroidered animal blocks and I love to see how others are done.
Well, I'm the odd man out here. I prefer the square blocks. Not because I think the quilts should be the same, but I just like the look of it better.

Snowball.
Snowball for me:0
I like rhem both :) I don't think little girls would notice a small difference such as that. So i vote for snowballs, too. Please be sure to post the finished quilt.
MY vote is Snowballs:
Another vote for the snowballs. That way the youngest will always spot hers right off.
I like the snowballs.
Snowballs. Different is always good.
Wow, snowballs it is, then! Thanks to all for your votes and for your thoughtful comments
The snowballs, only because it would be different than the first one. Each child should have their own pattern.
I like the snowball blocks.
Oh I like the snow blocks better.....!
Yep, snowballs!
Snowballs
snowballs definitely!
I would use the snowball pattern. Our skills evolve over time and we need to challenge ourselves. I often feel bad for my brother who received one of my first quilts. I do a much better job now, but he says he loves it and it's always on his bed.

snowball quilt

Snowballed for sure.....the bonus being that your grandchildren will be able to trace thier grandma's growth as a quilter through the years as you make more quilts over the years.
snowballs definately.
Go with the snowballs - and its very possible they won't even notice the difference. We all have trained quilting eyes but most people would miss the subtle difference.
go with the snowball. She deserves her own little quilt!

I like the snowballs!!
I'm lovin' the snowballs...
OK, now I have to reseach snowballs - as I don't even know what they look like!!
New baby needs it's own quilt and design.
I use to do that with my grandsons when they were little and granddaughters but learned as they got to be two, three, four, five, etc that they have there own personalities and need there VERY OWN something. So recommend you go with a design different than what you did for the others. |
