I like that one too and it does not take up the whole wall and can be easy to take down after x-mas. Thanks. My Public Library carries that magazine, so guess where I will be going.

Really cute and should be so easy. A good way to use scraps.

KyKaren1949 10-29-2011 07:54 AM

Haven't been able to put that magazine down since it came yesterday. I loved that Christmas wallhanging! Thought it was precious and looks so easy too!

I also loved the scrappy looking log cabin in there as well. I liked the smaller blocks, but sure would take a long time to make a queen or king size quilt. Worth it though!

cactusmomma 10-29-2011 09:09 AM

Thanks. I've been planning in my head to do a Christmas tree for years. I've collected all sorts of things to use to decorate it. Just wasn't sure how to do the tree but this is really easy. I'm really excited about making one. I checked out the issue online and there are some other nice things in there. I was curious but never ordered that particular magazine. I just might try it. Thanks again.

Good job Louise, including all the info ,so we don't have to ask or wonder about it.

A1penny 10-29-2011 09:22 AM

Thanks. The quilt is very cute and I can see the possibility of so many different embellishments!

I guess if it doesn't snow here tomorrow, I'll RUN out to the book store to get a copy. (Today just cruel wind and pouring rain!)

MaggieMeg 10-29-2011 09:43 AM

I got my issue a couple of days ago. I like the snowmen and the tree and the log cabin, too!!!!!

justme CA 10-29-2011 10:12 AM

Thanks for sharing. The pattern is easy to see and must be two and a half inch squares and half squares. Looks like fun. Thanks again.

charlotte37830 10-29-2011 10:53 AM

Very cute.

plainpat 10-29-2011 11:11 AM

I can figure out the tree, but how do the lights attach. Are they battery operated?

vondae 10-29-2011 11:28 AM

Just got my magazine yesterday and love that cute quilt. I like this magazine because I'm a new quilter and most of their patterns are very newbie friendly.

onaemtnest 10-29-2011 11:42 AM

So cute...hmm what fabrics do I have that would work??? Thanks for posting this cutie.

MargeD 10-29-2011 12:47 PM

No I haven't seen it, but when I do, I'll pick up the issue, as I alreadya subscribe to McCall's quilting magazine. Thanks for the input about the tree pattern, it looks very, very nice, and something I would like to make.

khurtdvm 10-29-2011 12:56 PM

I saw this magazine in the store a few nights ago - didn't buy it then, but I think I'm going to. I really want to make the snowman wall hanging, and maybe that tree also.

tuesy 10-29-2011 12:57 PM

I got a McCalls something, just haven't looked at it yet, but now I'm going to go see which mag it was.. Thank you for the heads up!

sunnymom 10-29-2011 01:45 PM

Very cute. I think I have every current quilt magazine BUT this one LOL! I will be looking for it now!

Quilty-Louise 10-29-2011 02:45 PM

I just spent the last 2-1/2 hours cutting
enough fabric to make 2 green and 1 pink
tree.

Getting ready to start my sewing. Pictures
to come when done.

CAS49OR 10-29-2011 05:16 PM

I got my issues and thought it so cute I decided to make it before I even looked at what's involved. btw that's how I get into trouble at BOTM at LQS. I see something so CUTE, I sign up, then find out what's involved, lol!

nonnie60 10-29-2011 06:01 PM

Just picked through my stash and am ready to try it tomorrow. Thanks

I am going to see if Sam's club has this magazine, I hope so as they are 30% off there. I have been talked into checking it out by all of you . I get myself into so much trouble and this board is not helping lol.

Happy Quilting
Judy

I have used those fake lights on miniature trees before. No, the ones I have don't light up, they're just decorative. Would be really cute if they did light though!

Call the quilt police! Better not now that I think of it, can you imagine all of us in jail? One big Quilt Retreat!!!

cactusmomma 10-30-2011 07:51 AM

Judy, I hear your pain. I just spent waaaaay too much on material yesterday thanks to Craftybear's applique post. I'm so addicted to this Board. Love it!!!! And, love all the neat stuff people post and do. I feel like everyone on here are my NBF's.

Quilty-Louise 10-30-2011 10:02 AM

Well now that I have 1 top (in green) finished; its time
to start on the steps I DESPISE the most sandwiching,
quilting and the worst part binding.

It took me longer to cut all the pieces than it did to sew
all the blocks together.

Will post a pic when finished.

azsupergram 10-30-2011 03:15 PM

WOO HOO, a cute pattern and it looks like a quick one. Have fun doing it.

Well I FINALLY got one of them done (have 3 planned).
Machine started giving me problems when I got to the
last binding strip ended up taking machine down doing
a complete cleaning (again) and a lot of work on it to
finally get it to sew properly.

Other than adding the "decorations" which is hand work
and I am not a fan of doing that part.

But here it is.

Oh so cute Louise! See that's why we would have been such good quilting buddies...I love fussy hand work!

CAS49OR 10-31-2011 06:05 PM

That's really cute Louise!

Quilty-Louise 05-19-2012 08:21 AM

Has anyone made one of these wall hangings yet?

I have several planned for this year, but I want to make
them using fabrics with metallic gold (green w/ gold,
purple w/ gold etc). I have more than enough red, green
fabrics with gold, what I am still on the hunt for is pinks,
purples, blues, teals, black, and other colors with the metallic
gold.

jcrow 05-19-2012 09:16 AM

I need to subscribe to that magazine. I just ordered that copy because that tree quilt is too cute.

Agreed, nothing but a bunch of squares and a few HSTs
