That old saying doesn't always work. Sometimes I count 3 times and still manage to mess up. Grrrrrr!

sewmary 10-14-2011 05:10 PM

How well I know your pain!

Murphy 10-14-2011 05:16 PM

mandyk 10-14-2011 05:42 PM

Is your local quilt shop close? Laughing and crying with you.

Blue Bell 10-14-2011 05:43 PM

I am in the same boat!!!!

Greenheron 10-14-2011 05:45 PM

That's why some historic quilter invented 'crazy' patches. :P

clynns 10-14-2011 05:46 PM

Is there a particular fabric that you need to finish the job?

Melinda in Tulsa 10-14-2011 06:19 PM

Carron 10-14-2011 06:29 PM

frugalfabrics 10-14-2011 07:06 PM

Been there, done that, way to many times..

khurtdvm 10-14-2011 07:10 PM

I have decided to add "Think correctly" in there first - because I had a recent project which was measured twice, cut once, sewed properly - only to realize that I couldn't salvage it because I'd screwed up my mental calculations and had the wrong dimensions to cut. :(

MsEithne 10-14-2011 07:10 PM

There's so many ways to make mistakes in quilting and I have apparently dedicated my life to discovering all of them.

dglvr 10-14-2011 07:11 PM

 :D

I hear you...but, that usually only happens when using stash, have JUST enough fabric(because we know you can't find it any more) and have one or two rows left to complete on a queen size...OMG do I hear you!!!

gypsyquilter 10-15-2011 03:06 AM

time for a cuppa tea, a stretch break and try it tomorrow. I find this only happens on the most unusual hard to find, replace, duplicate fabrics! never happens on the ones that you have extras of or possible stand ins!

Debd 10-15-2011 03:17 AM

What is really frustrating is when you measure several times, then cut, an THEN discover the pattern had the wrong dimensions!

I do the same with my quilting as well as my Cabineting.(My full time job).

ka9sdn 10-15-2011 04:06 AM

Sounds like you are pretty normal to me! We all do it.

supergma 10-15-2011 05:03 AM

Just last week! Fortunately I had plenty of fabric to re-cut.

Stitchit123 10-15-2011 05:10 AM

Same boat here too-oval Bassinets are a royal pain in the buttocks -Grrrr

stitchengramie 10-15-2011 05:15 AM

I have been there, and done that several times also. When things start happening like that I just back away and take a break.

quilts4charity 10-15-2011 05:17 AM

As we all know very well!!!

joycecil 10-15-2011 05:29 AM

Sorry to here that, but know your pain.

elm 10-15-2011 05:43 AM

Sorry you had a problem, but glad to hear I'm not the only one that has had that same issue.

collady 10-15-2011 05:52 AM

Been there, done that! I too have measured 3 or more times and still cut wrong!

the old one 10-15-2011 05:52 AM

That was my grandmother's favorite saying--and I repeat it often, myself. piecefully, the old one

Exactly what happen here!

BellaBoo 10-15-2011 06:02 AM

I think I've paid for my Accuquilt Go in saving fabric from my cutting mistakes. I use to have to buy extra fabric just for my cutting errors.

This is what I've done all too often. Urrrrr.

EagarBeez 10-15-2011 08:06 AM

I happen to have a wonderful DH who encourages me. He cuts strips for me and helps with measurements.

No, but thank you for asking. I am learning real fast to always buy a little extra. I have enough to do what i'm doing. It is just very frustrating to know you measured, measured again, sometimes even again and still not know how you managed to cut it wrong anyways.

Yes. Actually just a little over a mile down the road.

judy363905 10-15-2011 09:30 AM

Did you every notice just after a mis- cut we realize the errror?? Just seconds too late:(

Minding My Ps and Qs 10-15-2011 11:14 AM

That old saying doesn't always work - for sure!

The last time I said that out loud just before cutting, I cut on the wrong side of the ruler!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy was I mad at myself!!!! That quilt is STILL a UFO.

Deborahlees 10-15-2011 11:20 AM

That is when it is time to walk away, make lunch, have a large glass of wine....watch a soap....then go back...with fresh eyes and a better attitude

I do things like that all the time and it drives my husband crazy. Sometimes I think I have some unknown learning disorder.
Just remember you are never the only one.
