Quilters with quilt buddies are so lucky.I don't know another person who quilts. The guild only allows a new member when one quits. That can take yrs.

Thank you.

I have started a group at the school where I work, there are
so many teachers that sew, so I started the "Vernfield Quilter's" We meet once a month, and during the month if someone needs advice or just a show and tell they bring it into the office for the "awe". We meet 4:00-7:00, bring either pot luck or snacks. We meet in our Library which has great windows and plenty of room. This is our fourth year, no money dues or anything. But at the end of the school year when all the artwork comes off the walls, we give a little show of all the projects we have done this year. I keep my little countertop iron, and my old sewing machine in the closet, so if anyone wants to use it, its available. We made one quilt for our Home and School to raffle off, and we made our principal a quilt for letting us use the school. I also put out there the quilt show schedules, and ask if anyone needs to go for a fabric run every so often, and a couple of us may go, or just two. It has been great inspiration. |
Is there anyone in central Ohio who would like to get together during the daytime? I belong to a guild but would like to join a daytime group. Thanks for all the great ideas. Daleen
|
We have a small group (3-4 of us) We meet at least weekly, sometimes 2-3 times a week (retired). We have our own projects we work on together and sometimes a group project. It is very informal, we are very good friends.
|
Our guild has small groups called Bees. I belong to 2 of them and also joined a BOM group at a quilt shop.
|
I am ready to join such a group, but I don't know anybody, that lives near by, that quilts!!
All you quilters "in hiding" poke your head out and say where you are from!! |
There are lists of Quilting guilds and clubs that you might want to contact. http://www.quiltguilds.com/wisconsin.htm
This is a great link; just search for your state. |
I'm near Zanesville. Where are you? I heard Newark has a nice guild, but don't have any info on it.

I belong to a quilt group of seven "East Valley Quilters". We meet every two weeks. Last year we participated in a row quilt; the first row was of houses - any shape and size. Then we put our "house" row into a brown paper bag and didn't see it again for six months. The row quilt was passed from one to another and each month we had a different type row to make. When they were finished we met at "Paradise Bakery" and each of us saw our individual quilt for the first time! This was so much fun and challenging. This year we are taking on a challenge called ""Half-Yard Cruise Challenge" using five half yards.
It should be interesting to see what we all made from this challenge. |
I forgot to mention that we have a potluck everytime we meet and we really have some great food. We meet at one of three houses but I have a small patio home that isn't big enough. We also settle all the world's problems, chuckle!!
|
I live in Walla Walla, Washington. We have "Quilt til you Wilt" days 3 or 4 times a year. We bring potluck and sew from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Almost like a retreat without the cost! We also quilt together 2-3 days a week. We are really addicted.
|
I just started going to our local Senior Center,
because I have not had any luck meeting other quilters. I should get a tee shirt that says, Quilter here ! But I talk shop with anybody that will listen for a few minutes in passing, I know they are out their. |
I meet once a month with about 12 ladies. We bring our own lunch and the host lady supplies tea, coffee. Some of us bring biscuits, cakes or sugar supplies.
We have a "Show and Tell" time, where everyone shows off their latest finished or WIP. We show photos of quilt shows or discuss new shops, products, trends, etc. It starts at 10:00am and finishes at 4:00pm. Some ladies only come for the morning or afternoon session and some of us stay all day. We are not compelled to go every month. However, I find it so inspiring that I would not miss it. There are so many talented ladies there, who are willing to share. Some of them have published and some have won major competitions so I am in awe of them. |
Over here in Hong Kong, I have some of my friends from church come to my house each week to work on projects, when they finish their quilts, I quilt them, it's paying for my long arm, so it works out for me! Just finished #101.
|
I meet with a group of ladies at my church. They are very informal and actually meet twice a week (one daytime and one evening). Some people sew avidly every time and others sometimes just come to chat. Every 6-9 weeks that have a mini retreat on a Fri and Sat.
|
We have a small group that meets at our church---several of whom have since joined the board---and we meet Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings and work on our own projects. Every 6 weeks we have a mini retreat, consisting of 4-midnight on Friday and 8-5 on Saturday. Sometimes we are working on the same pattern, or a Project Linus pattern, etc, and other times we are working on our own projects. It's nice to just have the time to hang out together.
|
I meet once a week at a LQS to sew, visit, have lunch & coffee. We work on projects. This is why I'm finishing my UFO's. I also go once a month to the local LQS and we get a pattern to do. We cut it out at home and bring it to sew. It is interesting because each one of us uses different fabric and the same pattern looks so different. Most of the time we use our stash.

Hi Carol.
I graduated from Decatur Belmont High and do not live far from Shipshewanna. That would be fun to meet, shop etc...I do most all my sewing, quilting, and embroidery alone... Hope to hear from you Joyce |
I meet and sew with a group of quilters every Thursday and then with a different group on Friday. We all often go to Quilt Retreats together. Lots of fun and lots of ideas.
|
Is there anyone from around Warsaw, In interested in starting a club to get together for all our projects????
email me at [email protected] Joyce |
I have been meeting once a week since 1996 with the same group of women (almost, we started out with eight and are now down to the nitty gritty 5) We have tryed several different things. We take turns meeting at each other's houses. At times we have worked on the same project and other times our "own thing". It is nice to get together because we inspire each other and when we have a problem we have someone to help. We have gone on shopping trips to Amish Country in Pennsylvania. ONe year we all went on a cruise to Bermuda. This way our husbands get to know each other. Our friendships have grown stronger each year. Quilting has brought so much joy to my life I really quilt to live.
|
I meet one a week with a couple of quilters. Sometimes we decide on a quilt to make and start working on it. Other times we work on UFO's whether they are quilting, sewing or crafting. WE bring our lunch and have a great day together. We sjupport each other and share our problems. Problems seem smaller if you have a good friend to talk to. Tess

I was to meet with one of our members on a Mon for lunch but she had family issues and I haven't heard anymore.
I was interested in meeting a person from the Quilting Bd. Still would like to connect with member here. I belong to a "group" that meets in a church hall on Tues. mornings where we make children charity quilts and our own projects. In summer group up north we make quilts with flannel backing for adults diagnoised with cancer and have made over 700. Meet upstairs in a grocery store meeting room for free. Victoria Quilt's even own a Gammil Longarm.

That sounds wonderful! Lucky you.....Many guilds have way over 100 members & that's fine for those who do good in crowds.I'd prefer a smaller group where you can get to know each other.

There is a group (Material Girls) at our Senior Center. We meet weekly for 2 hours to quilt. We also have outing to LQS's. An then several of us meet once a month at a members house for food fun & fellowship & discuss our current projects. We are planning on making several 12" blocks for a quarterly drawing.
|
I have noticed that several members who want to meet with others have their location 'in hiding.' It would be helpful for others to find you if you put in your state. Just a thought.
|
I get together with 8 other women who are learning to quilt. I am their teacher - the classes are free. We meet 4 times a month at our Church (where there are LONG tables for stretching) and then we also meet inbetween classes ... for fun shopping for fabric choices. We have great fun!
This year we will do one 'Bible Block' a month & in the end set it all together for a lap quilt. For those faster than others we will be doing 3 other quilts - Courthouse Steps, Roman Stripe & Card Trick. Last year we did a 'star of the month' - and made 20 quilts that we gave to the older folks home. The down deep feeling...is wonderful! |
I live in Surprise AZ in the NW Phoenix metro area. You would think I could find a group but I haven't found one yet. The guild that I know about just has too many members (I do not like crowds when I go by myself)plus it is a bit far to drive for me. But I will not give up because when I had groups in other areas we lived in it was great. Some we worked on our own and some it was joint projects. I miss the sharing of friendship.
|
5 of us meet once a fortnight in each others homes. We meet from 7pm untill 10p.m. At 8pm we have tea and cakes. We work on Project Linus quilts and on our own quilts. We also knit and talk a lot. We put £1 a week into a kitty and twice a year we go out for a meal.

in seeing if there is anyone in your (or my) area so we could possibly meet :). Have a Great Day! Marcia in Crowley, TX |
I get together with my sister, her DIL, & another young lady. We meet 2 times, 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. What we do is pick a quilt pattern and we each choose the materials we want to use. We try to stay on the same page so that everyones project is basically finished at the same time. Last year I believe we finished about 5 quilts each. At the beginning we did brunch but that just got in the way of our projects. The group, all except for me had never quilted before. What is nice is the group survived its first year and we are meeting again this year. I hope this gave you some idea as to what you can do in a group.
|
If anyone is interested in joining my little group they
are welcome. We meet once a month at a local school (during school year). |
Haven't met anyone here that I talk to on a personal level but there are 8 of us that have a retreat 4 times a year and if there's a cancellation at the lodge we do more. We also meet once a month on a Sat. at another place and sew all day. We sometimes have lunch, not necessarily all of us, sometimes we go on a shophop. We are always doing something. We moved to where we are now from another place we had lived for 19 years. City to the country. I have never had so many friends until I started quilting about 6 years ago. I love it.

There is a quilting group in the next town that meets at 4:00am once a month. They all work so that was the only time to get together. I really wanted to join but they said they were full.

We have a group of cousins, sister in laws and sisters and a couple of friends that have been getting together for about 15 years once a week, we go to a different persons house every week, over the years we have gone to Paducah, had Christmas parties, birthday parties, quilted, had garage salesl, gone to movies, raised money for different causes. It is such a good feeling to have so many sisters in quilting. We call it Tuesday Nite Stitch N Bitch
