This is an amazing quilt! I have two large bags of ties I've collected and will definitely get this book! I would like to also know if this can be washed - did you wash the ties before making the quilt?

Baloonatic 03-06-2011 09:41 AM

Oh I love it!

Debd 03-06-2011 10:04 AM

I had someone ask me just the other day if I could make a quilt out of her deceased husbands ties, this is a beautiful way to use them.

That is just way cool! It's beautiful. Ties are plentiful and inexpensive at thrift stores and the color and print combination is endless. Thanks for showing this one.

Fantastic!!!

I wish my brothers would have given me our dad's ties (he must have had over 200) so I could have made each of us a rememberance. He wore a different tie every day, and even
in the assisted living.
Your quilt is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeanne Fauss 03-06-2011 11:07 AM

WOW that is nice. It is the best tie quilt I've ever seen. It looks like it was machine quilted?

kathyquilter34 03-06-2011 11:40 AM

I have always intended on making a tie quilt..but with redoing my sewing room some things have got to go..anyone interested in buying my ties..

Rainbow 03-06-2011 11:44 AM

CarrieAnne 03-06-2011 12:17 PM

thats really neat!

jmabby 03-06-2011 12:41 PM

I washed all of my ties first thinkiing if they don't wash well I don't want them in a quilt. I was surprised out of about 300 only 4-5 were ruined. Now all the ties are in a large bin waiting to be used.

Monika 03-06-2011 01:19 PM

Beautiful! A tie quilt is on my "to do" list.

I love your quilt. I've always wanted to make a quilt out of mens ties. I might just have to think about it again and start gathering up those ties.

Nettie Phillips 03-06-2011 06:48 PM

Very pretty. Did you have trouble working with the ties? They are
so slick.

Love St. Pete. Are you going to Lakeland? If I can, I am. Don't know because I may have to work.

Log cabin quilt out of men's ties?
Intriguing! Are you cutting the ties into
'logs' or just using their own shapes??
Did you need to put fusible interfacing on them
to be able to handle them?
Pictures??

asmmauer 03-06-2011 07:27 PM

That is absolutely gorgeous, what a terrific idea.

This is great and your quilting looks awesome. I love the challenge of making something out of nothing. You are going to have us all digging around for neck ties. Well done!

frarose 03-06-2011 11:33 PM

I use to collect ties and save for a quilt but I think I must have gotten rid of them the last time I moved. My DH wasn't too happy with all the crates of fabric he had to move anyway.
