Today I had a great time meating new friends from the quilt board at the Fabric Patch in Ephrata Washington. I met Dunster for a few minutes then Omak and I got to keep Charismah on her toes while she was working. Had a great time browsing through the quilt shop. They were truly wonderful. Thanks you guys for the great day.

Okay here is some of what I bought. Omak bought me the Mary Engelbreit Panel which is totally me. I just had to have some more doggie fabrics  and the black swirl fabric
is for some birdies I'll be making. I also got some Foundation by the yard for Square by Square and Flying Geese. I have not done that kind of sewing sew I'll see how it goes. Should be fun. I also got another shopping bag for more trips.

Looks like you three had a great time! I had thought about popping in (60 miles) but I was home with a sick kid. Next time!

judithb 12-05-2009 09:56 AM

It is a lovely area! I drove through there 2 years ago on the way to Vancouver for a cruise. Just a bit too cold for me. I think the idea of an area meet up with board member sounlds like a lot of fun though!

omak 12-05-2009 10:05 AM

Well, personally, I think Miss Charisma photos really well ... and, thank you, Miss Dglver for NOT putting up the picture with my tongue sticking out ... I got to thinking about something else, and ... well ... it was less than flattering, I am sure!
Dglver is planning some get-togethers, and I think we will probably be planning retreats ... so, we will be keeping you posted.
While we were at the Fabric Patch, there was a young gal putting a quilt on the Innova with Miss Donna and we got to see her do some work with this mid-arm long arm machine. Miss Dglver asked what the pattern was, and know-it-all me says: It is a sampler ...
at which point, the quilting Miss says ... no, all the blocks are different color arrangements but the name of the block is "hot fudge sundae with a cherry on top"
so, we go looking for the book, but, alas ... no where to be found! Bummer! We did however find many other things and fabric and books ....
And, I think that one block, different color placements would be a fun quilt to make ... now to find a block pattern we can agree on!
Of course, as with most things in my life, I have never done before .. I don't know what or how to get it done, but if I wake up tomorrow, I figure God is moving me forward, so I will come up with some ideas.
Plan A - - two pounds of scraps ... any number of participants, start making a designated size of block ... with my production ideas of getting things done, we might be able to all walk out with a quilt made of fabrics from each other ...
oh, I forgot to tell you, didn't I?
A BIG table .... two pounds of scraps ... dumped on a BIG table and ready, set, SEW!
I will iron and cut pieces ... no fair being selective about the scraps ... we all have those boxes <g>
We shall see what we shall see .... ;)

Here is a link to the book with the pattern. Hot fudge pattern

The book includes recipes to match the patter names.

Well, thank you so very much! It was pretty interesting to see how different each block looked ... one cannot imagine how moving the same colors around to different places can change the look of a block.... and what a grand teacher of values, contrasts, and construction.
Thank you for the link <wave> someday, the administrator may get me a little smiley that is waving <g>

I have Incredimail.com for e-mails. It is free. they have all sorts of bells and whistles to decorate es. Fun AND free! Unfortunately I couldn't copy and paste into this! hee hee

bearisgray 12-05-2009 10:27 AM

I like the paw prints

dunster 12-05-2009 10:29 AM

I was also fortunate to meet these 3 - Charismah, dglvr, and Omak - while I was picking up my Innova longarm. Even more fortunate, I had already left the shop to load the frame for the Innova (offsite, at Cindi's shop) when they started taking pictures. (I do not show up well in pictures - I blame it on the camera, or at least I try to.) All of them are so very nice.

We got home around 9:00 last night and unloaded the machine and frame. Today we set it up. When done I'll post pic's.

omak 12-05-2009 10:40 AM

Oh, DUNSTER!
I am soooo excited for you!
as far as not taking good pictures ... I have come to the conclusion that people look much better in pictures than they give themselves credit for!
We just spend so much effort trying to avoid the inevitable that the stress shows .... I KNEW I should have brought the camera when we had dinner ... but, silly me! Taking pictures to prove what I have done and where I have been -- is about the last thing I want to do <g> ... it would be easier if I could say: Well, I was drunk at the time ... or something ... but, no!
I am stone cold sober every time! LOL
Will so be looking forward to seeing your quilting machine being set up and ready for WORK! <wave>

zkosh 12-05-2009 11:11 AM

Oooh, that sounds like fun! I'd love to go to Washington, but meanwhile something in Texas would be great. Right, Judithb?

judithb 12-05-2009 12:24 PM

As long as I don't have to fly. We flew in to Miami last year and I vowed never to get on a plane again. Rude and complicated and rude and worse. (AA)I had a total melt down in the ladies room. We have relatives in OR and there is a quilt shop there that I could live in! We may go there again, but it will be on Southwest.
We are driving to Spring, TX in 3 weeks and will stop at the fun quilt shop there in Old Town Spring. Hope I have money left to spend on the cruise!

amma 12-05-2009 01:36 PM

Awww what beautiful pictures!!! It really looks like you were all having a great time :D :D :D Dunster...you ducked out this time...but maybe not the next time LOL
I am glad that you all got together...I look forward to hearing about the retreat, too :D :D :D

omak 12-05-2009 01:51 PM

We need input on the idea .... maybe we should find out from Miss Dglver how many she wants to make room for ...
poor girl ... we are going to overwhelm her ... all she wanted to do was meet some board quilters! LOL

amma 12-05-2009 01:56 PM

LOL I meant I was looking forward to hearing about it and seeing the pictures :D :D :D

Have you been there recently? A friend and I tried to go this past summer and couldn't find it. I am afraid it is gone, but maybe it just moved and we couldn't find it. Keep me posted. :-)

judithb 12-05-2009 03:31 PM

OH NO!! I hope its still there. I will have to call them before we go down. I love that tiny crowded place with so much fabric! Last time I found a great sale on charm bundles and pillowcases.
Oh yes, it is right next to the wine sampling room. I will check on Monday and post.

Shemjo 12-05-2009 03:52 PM

I think the pictures are lovely! You are all smiling and you know that weight isn't about who we are! Smiles are who we are! Love the panels! Oh my, what beautiful fabrics!

judithb 12-05-2009 04:03 PM

The quilt shop on Old Town Spring is not listed in my Quilter's travel book. On to plan B...
