Ah, no need to do that. My current sewing space is 13x17 /pitched ceiling. and the next roomis 15x17 with higher walls. Our walls are plaster so I think DH would choke if I suggested some demolition! LOL! I have plenty f space in either room. I don't maintain a huge stash...takes up too much room. The higher walls feel spacious as it is.

Congrats on your future room! I feel your excitement I too will be moving from a 7'x13' small room into a spare bedroom 12'x14' I am too excited. I plan on one small wall nothing but painted pegboard so no more searching for every ruler ect. Have fun with your new space!

I am in the final stages of moving my sewing room from one room to another - better light. It has been a much bigger job than I thought - never knew I had so much stuff. Fortunately I have two friends who teach quilting at two different senior centers and they were willing to take all my "extra fabric" - many bags. I really have purged - if I don't love it - it goes. Wrapped all my fabrics on comic book cardboards and it all looks so neat now - and well organized in my new cabinets. Take your time and do it well - it's worth it!

UPDATE: today I scored 3 oak kitchen base cabinets at the Habitat store. $30/ each! They are in pretty good shape. Just need to wipe them down. Lowes has an 8' laminate counter top that will work just fine @ $47.

I Still have not moved into the next room but we are getting closer. I am sure that by the end of summer I will be moved. Still purging!

Thanks for the update! I haven't been in my basement sewing room this summer because I'm finding it a little to dark in the summertime. I want to be outside more so when the weather gets bad I will head back down. Maybe by then we will have some way to finish up the basement.

Post pics when yours is done.

I dont get much sewing done in June or July. We have had great weather and I just spend time outside too. And until I move into the new to me space, it is too hot upstairs. I will post pics!
