mini dahlia - how to finish
1 Attachment(s)
I found a paper piecing method to do a mini dahlia ... so i have all the arcs done, sewn together, however I don't know how I should "finish" the outer circle. I don't have a template for that part!
I will be doing mini dresden in the middle so that part will be ok ... any ideas? thanks |
Maybe reverse applique onto the background?

It's going to be pretty, however you finish it!

I love it. I have a not so giant dahlia cut out and languishing in a UFO tub. I hear it calling to me. Marcia

I would draw the design full size on paper. Graft paper if you can find it , if not, the gridded easel pads would work. It would give squares to follow. I then would draw the dahlia circle the finished size. You will then have the pattern or template for the outer edge or four corners. Then add seam allowance to the corner section. Divide the outer edge at the top center and side center. This will make it easier to cut the 4pieces from your fabric.i would use the center that was cut out to mark the pieced center in order to make sure it is a good circle and will fit the outer sections.

You have great suggestions, so I just wanted to add that I love it!

I might make or buy some bias tape to cover the raw edge and appliqué it to a background.

I don't have any suggestions for finishing but I just wanted to tell you your project is so beautiful. Love the colorful way you arranged it.
